Pokemon GO players will soon be able to start conducting special research for a chance to earn special rewards, including encounters with rare pokemon. Yesterday's announcement gave a high level overview of the upcoming features, but didn't spell out exactly when players could expect the changes to arrive. Thanks to a new tweet from the official Pokemon account, we now have a much better idea of when the research will begin in Pokemon GO.
The promotional tweet revealed that the mew research storyline will be arriving in the game on March 30, which likely means the rest of the research update will also arrive on that day.
Here's a look at the announcement tweet from the official Pokemon account...
This means that in just three short days, there will, hopefully, be a robust new questing feature for trainers to explore. The big carrot attached to this feature is the suggestion that players will have a chance to trigger a mew encounter.
Exact details about how players will unlock the mew encounter or how it will work haven't been revealed yet, but check back in for more details and guides in the coming weeks. It seems like the encounter will likely be connected to the new seven day streak associated with research tasks.
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
