Pokemon GO players are selling their accounts on eBay after Niantic's latest change to how Raids work. April started with new Pokemon GO events confirmed for players, bringing new content to the game. Players can capture special-looking monsters, strengthen their teams, and expand their Pokedex.
Pokemon GO became a phenomenon in 2016 by revealing gameplay that turns players into Pokemon trainers. Now the game is in Season 10, which has brought new Pokemon, including legendary Pokemon, and new features to enhance the gaming experience. As expected from an online game, Niantic also changes how certain features work. But one of these recent changes ended up causing an uproar among Pokemon GO players.
The change in Pokemon GO's Remote Raids is something players feared for some time, and its official announcement was not celebrated. As part of the community's dissatisfaction, Pokemon GO players are selling their accounts on eBay. By typing in terms such as "Pokemon GO account" or "Pokemon GO acc" and selecting the option "Time: newly listed," players can find several accounts that have been put up for sale recently. One of these accounts in particular catches the eye, as it is being sold for $3,000 with 700 shiny and 500 shadow Pokemon, as well as five shundo Pokemon.
With the limitation on Remote Raid participation, and the increase in the price of Raid Passes, players have decided to organize a Pokemon GO boycott. In addition to selling their accounts on eBay, players are encouraging each other to uninstall the app and give it a low rating in their device's app store. For players who have not yet decided to quit the game, the boycott encourages them to disable the Adventure Sync option. Another idea is to not make any in-game purchases for seven days after the changes to Raids, which will go into effect on April 6. On social media, it is also not hard to find players frustrated with the change.
While part of the Pokemon GO community is determined to boycott the game, another part is not so impressed and argues about the effectiveness of the effort. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Pokemon GO players have boycotted the game. Unlike before, however, Niantic has yet to comment on the whole controversy. Players can only wait and see if Niantic will talk about the issue and what will happen to Pokemon GO with the players' boycott.
