Pokemon GO has revealed the addition of Mega Metagross in a Raid Day on October 4. Expanding the list of Mega Evolutions available to Pokemon GO players, Scopely will give the spotlight to a pocket monster from one of the most beloved generations.
Metagross is a pseudo-Legendary Pokemon with an imposing appearance that resembles a mechanized arachnid. Introduced with the release of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire, the most notable appearance in both the games and the anime is Steven's Metagross, the Champion of the Hoenn region. With the introduction of the Gen 3 remakes, Metagross unlocked even more power with the introduction of its Mega Evolution, in which its arms become legs, and new legs appear on the back of its head. Metagross is a powerful creature beloved by fans, and its variant is on its way to Pokemon GO.

Mega Metagross Debuting in Pokemon GO in Upcoming Event
Pokemon GO has announced the debut of Mega Metagross in a Mega Raid Day that will take place on Saturday, October 4, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. During the event, trainers will battle the Steel/Psychic-type Pokemon in raids, with the possibility of a shiny one appearing. The Mega Metagross caught in these raids will know the Fast Attack Shadow Claw, while Metagross can learn this move after the event ends by using the Elite Fast TM. To hype players up, Pokemon GO will increase the limit on Remote Raid Passes to 20 from October 3 at 5 pm to October 4 at 8 pm PT. Players will be able to receive up to five additional Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs.

To celebrate the coming leveling update on October 15, 2025, all Trainers will be able to enjoy the following bonuses until October 14, 2025, at 11:59 pm local time. These bonuses will stack with bonuses from other Pokemon GO events.
- 2× Catch XP from Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws
- +3,000 XP from winning raids
- +3,000 XP from winning Max Battles
- Timed Research will be available for all Trainers over level 5. This expansive research awards over 7 million XP
For $4.99, players will be able to purchase an in-game ticket that will give them even more bonuses, including an additional 5,000 XP and double Stardust when participating in raids, and an increased chance of obtaining Rare Candy XL in these battles. Through the Pokemon GO Web store, players can purchase a $4.99 Ultra Ticket Box for the Mega Metagross Raid Day, which comes with an event ticket and a Premium Battle Pass at no additional cost. Still celebrating the Pokemon GO leveling update, players will receive extra XP by winning raids and Mega Raids, and by making Nice throws or better by October 14.
Mega Metagross Raid Day isn't the only event of its kind coming soon, as Mega Camerupt will debut in Pokemon GO on September 28. Other events coming in the next few days include Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend on September 30, and Community Day featuring Solosis on October 12.
