Pokemon GO has adjusted the storage limit in the game, giving players an increase to both how many items and Pokemon that they can keep. As the years roll by and more Pokemon and useful items appear in Pokemon GO, it makes some sense to give players the option of holding more at once.

Pokemon GO players have been enjoying the annual Go Fest events held in numerous locations, and the upcoming global GO Fest, which will arrive in late June. These events always come with numerous opportunities to catch rare, limited, and Shiny Pokemon, so it's a good time to increase the limit available to players.

Pokemon GO's New Gold Bottle Caps Are Essentially a Pay-to-Win Feature

Pokemon GO just announced that Gold Bottle Caps are coming to the game, and there's already discussion as to whether it's a pay-to-win item or not.

As announced by the game's social media accounts, players can now enjoy expanded storage in Pokemon GO. The Pokemon storage limit has been increased to a whopping 10,500, while item capacity has been increased to 9,500. This is a 700 increase to both item and Pokemon storage capacity. However, as with prior storage upgrades, these aren't free to players. Those who are interested in maxing out their storage will need to visit the in-game shop or Web Shop to purchase item and Pokemon storage storage upgrades. Pokemon storage upgrades and item upgrades both cost 200 PokeCoins for 50 extra slots, so players may need considerable amounts of the game's currency to reach the max.

Pokemon GO Players React to Storage Increases

Responses to this news have been mixed thus far. Some players are grateful to have more slots, while others are nowhere near the maximum and aren't interested in the option to upgrade. Some have lamented that they already had to surrender Pokemon they no longer had room for that they could have been able to keep if this update had arrived sooner. Another common comment is that players wish that the Pokemon GO storage upgrade cost were less expensive. Adding more storage slots for free is also a request, with some F2P players lamenting the increasing difficulty of playing the game without spending money as time goes on.

While some concerns remain regarding the monetization of Pokemon GO, players can choose to simply forego this particular storage expansion if they so choose. For casual players, storage likely won't be much of an issue at all, but for players like the couple who caught a combined 600,000 Pokemon that just got married at Pokemon GO Fest, expanding Pokemon and item storage even further likely can't come soon enough.
