Niantic introduced the 'Community Day Classic' event format to Pokemon GO in January 2022 to celebrate the Community Days of old. These events are pretty rare, with only three happening in 2022. Players should take full advantage of April's - who knows when the next one will happen?
April 2023's Community Day Classic spotlights Swinub, the adorable Pig Pokemon. Veteran players might remember the first Swinub Community Day back in February 2019, just over four years ago. It's safe to say it's coming back with a bang, as this Community Day Classic offers players tons of incredible rewards and bonuses on top of increased Swinub spawns for two hours. Here's everything a player needs to know about Pokemon GO's Community Day Classic (April 2023).
When Does Pokemon GO's Swinub Community Day Classic Take Place?
Community Day Classic will run in Pokemon GO on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m. Local time. Players will have three hours of increased Swinub spawns and several other bonuses included with the event.

During the three-hour event period, all players will have access to the following bonuses:
- Increased Swinub Spawns
- Three times the regular amount of Stardust rewarded for catching
- 3-hour Incense duration
- 3-hour Lure Module duration
- The chance that Swinub will photobomb snapshots
This means that players will be able to use one Lure Module and/or one Incense for the entire duration of the event. Players should note that Golden Lure Modules and Daily Adventure Incense are excluded from this time bonus.
Pokemon GO Swinub Community Day Classic Featured Attack
Any Mamoswine evolved during Community Day Classic (and up to two hours afterward) will gain the charged attack Ancient Power. Ancient Power is a Rock-type attack that will do 60 damage in Trainer and Raid Battles, with a chance to raise the user's Attack and Defense. In Gym Battles, it has a power of 70.
This attack will be helpful in battles against Flying-, Bug-, Fire-, and Ice-type Pokemon.
Pokemon GO Swinub Community Day Classic Research Tasks
There are several tasks only available for the duration of the Swinub Community Day Classic event:
Field Research Tasks
Field Research Tasks are tasks that players can acquire through spinning Pokestops. Each Pokestop can generate one Field Research Task per day, but players can receive and complete multiple per day if they come from different Pokestops. This time around, there is only one potential Field Research Task with various rewards:

Special Research Tasks
Players can purchase a Special Research Ticket for $1 or the equivalent in local currency. Players can also gift a Special Research Ticket to any friends they have achieved the Great Friends level or higher with, so long as they do not already have a Special Research Ticket themselves.
The tasks and rewards are listed below so players can decide whether the rewards are worth the price.
Special Research Tasks (1/4):
- Power up Pokemon 10 times (20x Swinub Candy)
- Catch 15 Swinub (Swinub encounter)
- Make 5 Nice Throws (x15 Pokeballs)
The rewards for completing this task are x3000 Stardust, a Swinub encounter, and x1 Incense.
Special Research Tasks (2/4):
- Catch 15 Swinub (Swinub encounter)
- Transfer 10 Pokemon (x10 Pinap Berry)
- Evolve 3 Swinub (x30 Swinub Candy)
The rewards for completing this task are 4500XP, a Swinub Encounter, and x1 Lucky Egg.
Special Research Tasks (3/4):
- Make 3 Great Curveball Throws (x15 Great Balls)
- Evolve 1 Piloswine (x50 Swinub Candy)
- Catch 15 Swinub (Swinub encounter)
The rewards for completing this task are 4500XP, a Piloswine encounter, and a Rocket Radar.
Special Research Tasks (4/4)
- Claim Reward! (X2 Silver Pinap Berry)
- Claim Reward! (Swinub encounter)
- Claim Reward! (X15 Ultra Balls)

The rewards for completing this task are 5500XP, a Piloswine Encounter, and x3 Rare Candy.
Timed Research Tasks
There are also event-exclusive Timed Research Tasks available to all players:
- Power up Pokemon 10 times (x1 Sinnoh Stone)
- Catch 1 Swinub (x1 Sinnoh Stone)
- Make 5 Nice Throws (x1 Sinnoh Stone)
The rewards for completing this task are x1 Sinnoh Stone, a Swinub Encounter, and 3000XP.
Can Swinub Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Fans will be pleased to discover that the entire Swinub line can be shiny in Pokemon GO. Shiny Swinub was added to the game during the first Swinub Community Day in February 2019. During Community Day Classic, players will be more likely to find a shiny Swinub in the wild, thanks to the increased spawn rates.
