Niantic has announced a new Pokemon GO event called Crown Clash: Taken Over, featuring Team Rocket and Giovanni, where players will need to rescue Shadow Dialga. Pokemon GO Teases Pokemon For May 2025's Community Day
The creators of the popular title Pokemon GO tease the next creature to be featured during the next Community Day, which will happen in May.
From May 14 to May 18, players can experience the Crown Clash: Taken Over event, where Pokemon GO players will face Giovanni again. During the event, Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokeStops and in balloons to challenge trainers, while players will be able to use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokemon forget the Charged Attack Frustration. Niantic has noted that Pokemon caught via one-star and three-star Shadow Raids will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense, and HP.

Additionally, while chasing down Giovanni, players can get the Super Rocket Radar by completing a Special Research that can be claimed until the end of Pokemon GO: Might and Mastery on June 3. Players will encounter Shadow Pokemon, including Shadow Slakoth, Shadow Inkay, Shadow Tyrunt, and Shadow Amaura, used by Team GO Rocket, and must defeat their leaders to save them. Moreover, players can find more Shadow Pokemon in one-star Raids and three-star Raids, and some lucky players may even encounter a Shiny one.
Starting with the Crown Clash: Taken Over event, Larvitar and Pawniard will be available in Pokemon GO’s 10km Eggs. Players looking to earn Fast TMs, Charged TMs, and Mysterious Components can also complete Field Research tasks, and those willing to spend $4.99 can access event-exclusive Timed Research. This includes one Super Rocket Radar, two Premium Battle Passes, and event-themed Pokemon.
Players can also enter event-themed Pokemon in the different PokeStop Showcases. As players gear up for the event, May is shaping up to be an exciting month for Pokemon GO fans, as Niantic has also announced the debut of Dynamax Suicune in a new Max Battle Weekend starting on May 10.
