  • A fan created an adorable handmade plush of Zubat, a Gen 1 Pokemon.
  • The plush features foldable wings, gaining praise on Reddit with many upvotes.
  • The creator has also made many other plushes, including Mew, Hatenna, and Oddish.

A Pokemon fan has showcased their love for Zubat by creating an impressive plush of the Poison/Flying creature. While Zubat might not have the cutest design in the Pokemon franchise, this plush put a more adorable spin on the traditional appearance, earning praise from fans online.

As part of the first generation of Pokemon games, Zubat has been around for a long time. As its name suggests, the pocket monster has a design reminiscent of a bat, including a pair of wings. Its appearance can be somewhat unsettling thanks to its fanged mouth and lack of eyes. In addition, Zubat is part of a larger evolution line that features Golbat and Crobat. Recently, one fan decided to pay tribute to the Pokemon.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Mimiku0 shared pictures of their handmade Zubat plush. While the doll featured the same design features as the version seen in the Pokemon games, the creator managed to give it a more adorable appearance. Among the highlights were the wings of the plush. As seen in the images, they could be positioned in various ways, such as folded or spread out. When sharing the design on Reddit, Mimiku0 included a link to their Etsy for those interested in getting a Zubat plush.

The Reddit response to the creation has been positive, with the post gaining more than 4.9K upvotes. In the comments, players praised the design and pointed out how cute the plush looked. “Zubat never looked so cute,” one Reddit user said. Specifically, fans highlighted the foldable wings that allowed the Zubat to be posed in different ways. It is worth noting that Mimiku0 has created numerous other handmade plushes and shared them on their Reddit page. Some examples include Mew, Hatenna, and Oddish, to name a few.

Given the numerous Pokemon in the franchise, it is unsurprising to see many of them used as the subject of fan art. In addition to handmade plushes, many fans have created artwork that reimagines existing pocket monsters with new typings. For example, one fan recently created new regional forms for Litwick and its evolutions, giving them looks reminiscent of paper lanterns.

While official Pokemon merchandise and content are consistently released, these fan projects let the community see what some more unique concepts that might never get added to mainline games could look like. It will be interesting to see what creations are shared with the community in the coming months.
