Nintendo announced it will be adding new features to the application Pokemon Home, including the ability to change a Pokemon’s moveset from a list containing all the moves it has ever learned. The long-awaited connectivity between the latest titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Home became compatible in May.Pokemon Home, similar to one of its predecessors Pokemon Bank for the Nintendo 3DS, is a free application that allows players to trade, transfer, and store their Pokemon from various generations of Pokemon games in a cloud-based storage. Pokemon Home recently made rare items from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s auctions available following the connectivity between the application and the latest games. New quality-of-life features are continually being added to the app, including a feature that will change the way a player's Pokemon learn moves. Nintendo announced a new feature that is coming to Pokemon Home Version 3.0.0 that will allow players to change their Pokemon’s moveset from all the moves a Pokemon ever learned. It will be made possible with Pokemon that are brought from Pokemon Home and into a compatible linked game.
Users expressed how great of an idea this new feature will be for Pokemon Home, especially since some users are wondering with worry if it would be possible for their Pokemon to re-learn a move that has been deleted after transferring them to another game. It can be upsetting for a Pokemon’s build to be altered when it was not the player’s intention. If a move a Pokemon knows is not allowed in a particular game it is replaced with a move that is possible for that Pokemon when transferred. Players intending to transfer Pokemon from older generations to the latest generation should be aware that many moves are not available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Although the new features being added to Pokemon Home are nice quality-of-life changes, fans still find the application flawed. Not every Pokemon is transferable to and from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and previous games, so it limits Pokemon that are allowed into the Paldea region such as Generation 1 Squirtle and Snorlax. Nevertheless, the connectivity between Pokemon Home and the latest Pokemon games has allowed new possibilities between Pokemon and the playerbase.
Fans anticipated the connectivity between Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Home for a year and a half. Although the latest games experienced visual and technical difficulties, they reportedly sold 10 million units during their first week after release and surpassed 20 million in 2022 alone. Compared to previous generations, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the first open-world Pokemon games that allow players to explore the new region Paldea and embark on their journey following a non-linear path.
Pokemon Home is available on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
