Game Freak's latest title in the long-running Pokemon franchise has been a runaway success. After one week, Pokemon Legends: Arceus has sold over 6.5 million copies, which could be a testament to the various gameplay changes to the typical formula. In addition to being able to capture Pokemon in real-time without battling, players have been raving about the more open spaces as well as missions and quests that resember something out of Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise.
Naturally, Pokemon Legends: Arceus has a wealth of creatures to capture and evolve, with some having special Hisui-style variations which further alter typings and appearances. The game has also added special Pokemon that are not only more aggressive, but are bigger and feature red eyes. These Alpha Pokemon are typically a much higher level and know moves that their normal versions may not know, making them all the more dangerous.
Thankfully, Alpha Pokemon can be captured by players after a bit of effort, which includes tracking them down. One such Alpha, the Eaglet Rufflet can be difficult to find, so here's where Pokemon Legends: Arceus players need to go in order to find it.
Alpha Rufflet Location
In order to find this Pokemon, players will need to have access to the Alabaster Icelands area of Hisui, far to the north. Once there, head to Heart's Crag which is to the East and Southeast of Pearl Settlement. Alpha Rufflet can typically be found flying near a berry tree. However, some players have noted that it appeared closer to nearby Lake Acuity, so its worth expanding the search area just in case. In addition, others have reported that Alpha Rufflet can even spawn as far off as Snowpoint Temple to the more northern part of the map.
It's also worth noting that this spawn location isn't guaranteed as it seems to be more random than most other Alpha spawns. It may take some time for this Pokemon to appear at all. Once Alpha Rufflet does appear, players will be in for a fight as the Pokemon is between levels 65-68 and can use powerful moves like Brave Bird.
Evolving Rufflet
Thankfully, evolving Rufflet into its unique Hisuian Braviary form is a simple process. Once it hits level 54, it will be eligible to evolve, so catching the Alpha version already puts Pokemon Legends: Arceus players in range to evolve it.
Alternatively, Hisuian Braviary is a rare spawn in the wild, so players also have a chance to grab one right off the bat, rather than going through the traditional process of getting its base form first. Players should head to Lake Acuity and if they're lucky, Hisuian Braviary may be flying around in the sky. Feather Balls and the Bean Cake lure will draw it down, so players have a shot to battle it. For those who need the Bean Cake recipe, it can be purchased at the Craftworks building in Jubilife Village.
Pokemon Legends: Arecus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
