The Bug/Steel-type Pokemon Scizor was first introduced in the second generation of Pokemon games with Pokemon Gold/Silver for the Game Boy Color. It evolves from the first-gen Pokemon Scyther, and in the past, players had to trade with a friend to evolve Scyther into Scizor, and the Scyther had to be holding a Metal Coat. However, in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the evolution process is more straightforward and doesn't involve trading at all.
How to Get Scizor in Legends: Arceus
Scizor can be caught in the wild, but it's going to be very difficult to locate, as it can only be found in Space-Time Distortions, specifically in the Alabaster Icelands. These Distortions aren't super common to run into, and there's still a chance that Scizor won't always appear.
Updated on July 11, 2022: Scizor is one of the most sought-after Bug-type Pokemon available in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, Scizor can also be one of the more challenging Pokemon to obtain if players aren't aware of the process. To give Legends: Arceus players a better shot at getting Scizor, this guide has been updated with information on Massive Mass Outbreaks and stats surrounding the Steel-Bug type.
The other more reliable way to get Scizor is to evolve a Scyther by using a Metal Coat on it. Metal Coat is an evolutionary item, similar to a Moon Stone or a Thunder Stone, and players can find it using several methods.
How to Get Metal Coat in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
As for Jubilife Village goes, players can acquire a Metal Coat by speaking with Simona at her shop near the Training facility. She'll sell the item for 1000 Merit Points, earned by finding and turning in lost Satchels in the overworld.
There's also a chance to find the Metal Coat in the Ginkgo Guild inventory, but the daily shop items are randomized.
If players are lucky enough to end up inside one of the Space-Time Distortions, there's a chance to find the Metal Coat item on the ground. There's also a chance to find the Metal Coat carried by certain wild Pokemon, like Scizor, Steelix, Magnemite, and Magnemite's evolutions.
Once players have the Metal Coat in their Satchel, they just need to use the item on a Scyther that is in the current team. Players can't use the Metal Coat to evolve Scyther into Scizor if it's inside the Pastures.
Where to Find Scyther in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
For Pokemon Legends: Arceus players that have yet to find a Scyther to evolve into Scizor, they can be found pretty early on in the story.
Players will want to head to the Grandtree Arena area in the Obsidian Fieldlands, or the Primeval Grotto in the Coronet Highlands. Before players have to quell Kleavor's frenzy, there should be plenty of Scyther to catch nearby the battle arena.
Added with the Daybreak update, Scyther can also be found in one of the Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Obsidian Fieldlands. However, to unlock Mass Outbreaks, players need to first view the end credits of Legends: Arceus to accept Request 95 from Mai. Completing this Request will give players access to Request 96, which is centered around Massive Mass Outbreaks.
