With a title like Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Game Freak was practically inviting fans to speculate on what other Legends titles would be like for years to come. Legends Z-A might prove that the series doesn't always have to always deal with the past, but there are trends between the two Legends games regardless that have left fans excited. With the implied ancestral connection between Volo and Cynthia, and the return of AZ, there's been a precedent set that any Legends titles will expand upon established Pokemon lore. This means that any important point in the franchise can be explored, and there are numerous interesting storylines throughout Pokemon that are worth revisiting.
It could easily be said that Pokemon Legends: Arceus served as a counterpart to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's remake of the original adventure in the Sinnoh region. As Generation 5 is due for a remake of its own sooner rather than later, a Legends game in Unova could capitalize on the hype when it comes around. And if Game Freak does decide to explore Unova in a new light, then there's one specific piece of the region's past that could shock fans if it's filled in: N's family tree.
How Pokemon Gen 10 Breeding Could Be the Best of Recent Generations
Breeding is a core mechanic in the Pokemon series, and Gen 10 can take the feature to new heights with the best systems of Gen 8 and 9.
Pokemon Legends' Unova Entry Could Surprise Fans By Revealing N's Birth Parents
Pokemon Black and White's N Still Has Room to Have His Origin Explained
There are very few Pokemon characters that rival N's popularity, serving as a testament to how special he is in the RPG series as a whole. In a world where battling Pokemon is completely normalized, N calls the culture into question with an ability to hear that the creatures are supposedly suffering from it all. This belief was fostered in N due to how his adoptive father, Ghetis, raised him after finding him living among wild Pokemon as an orphan. N was taken in as a tool to further push Ghetis' beliefs using his special innate ability to hear the critter's voices, but it was never explained just how N was left to live among Pokemon in the first place.
After seeing Pokemon Legends: Arceus sprinkle in potential ancestors for multiple Generation 4 characters to surprise players, N's parents feel like the perfect storyline for a future Unova Legends game to include. There could be a husband and wife players meet at the start of the game, letting fans watch as they fall in love before eventually announcing that they're leaving to have a child in the woodlands together. There are ways of leaving the twist that this couple are N's birth parents a complete surprise, such as having the husband and wife have blue and yellow hair before holding a green-haired baby in their arms by the end of the story.
Unova's History is the Road Less Traveled
Unlike Kalos, Unova has already shown players what happens after their adventure through Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, which leaves a future Pokemon Legends game free to dive into the past. Considering how iconic Nimbasa City is to N and Unova itself, and how the game can't be too far into the future to feature N's parents, perhaps a Legends Unova game could reverse the scenario that Z-A is focusing on; developing Nimbasa City years before N and the player ride the ferris wheel for the first time.
Unlike Kalos, Unova has already shown players what happens after their adventure through Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, which leaves a future Pokemon Legends game free to dive into the past.
There's a chance that filling in this missing piece of N's backstory could explain why he can understand Pokemon so intimately, which some players would surely see as one of the more exciting aspects about the idea. Other fans may be fine with simply learning where N came from and who his parents are in an overarching story arc throughout their playthrough. Depending on how a potential Unova Legends game is handled, it could supplement Black and White's remakes beautifully. Since Pokemon has decided to focus on Kalos for the time being, however, gamers may have to wait a few more years for either of these games to be announced, let alone be released.
