Mega Evolution is the heart and soul of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and players looking to get the most out of the mechanic are likely going to need to farm for Mega Shards sooner or later. With Mega Shards used as the currency required to purchase Mega Stones from Quasartico, Pokemon Legends: Z-A players are going to need quite a few in order to obtain every Mega Stone in the game. As such, following the best Mega Shard farming method in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is in the player's best interest for the sake of efficiently collecting these items.
Finding these Mega Shards is as easy as using a damaging move on the outcrops of Mega Crystals scattered throughout Lumiose City. Players simply need to lock onto a group of crystals and send out a Pokemon from their team to attack and destroy it for a drop of a few Mega Shards. However, there is a way to streamline this process beyond simply wandering around the city looking for Mega Crystals to smash.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Best Mega Shard Farming Method is Surprisingly Efficient
To collect every Mega Stone in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, players will need a total of 7,980 Mega Shards to purchase all on offer from Quasartico. Thankfully, not every Mega Stone is obtained from Quasartico, with some being purchased from the Stone Emporium for Poke Dollars and others gained by defeating Rogue Mega Evolutions. Still, that's a hefty sum of Mega Shards players will need to spend, so using this farming method is a must to cut down on the time and effort necessary to collect them all.
Players can only hold 999 Mega Shards at a time, so they will need to periodically head to Quasartico to spend them before resuming the farming route.
How to Use Legends: Z-A's Best Mega Shard Farming Route
- Hotel Z Rooftop
- Around Prism Tower
- Wild Zone 9 Rooftop
- Alley Behind Restaurant Le Yeah
The first stop on this Mega Shard farming route is the rooftop of Hotel Z, which can be accessed by climbing the ladder next to the entrance. After clearing out all the Mega Crystals here, players will want to make their way around the base of Prism Tower, breaking all the crystals along its wall. The next stop should be the western side of the map in Wild Zone 9 in the Magenta District of Lumiose City and smash the crystals on the rooftops there. Finally, players should head north to Restaurant Le Yeah across from the Quasartico building and smash all the crystals in the alley behind it. At this point, players can spend their Shards nearby at Quasartico and head back to Hotel Z to start again, as the crystals should have respawned by this time.
Why This Mega Shard Farm in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is So Effective
These locations form the ideal Mega Shard farming route in Pokemon Legends: Z-A because they contain the highest density of crystals in the game's map. With the right setup, players can quickly smash these crystals for the motherlode and move on to the next area in no time. As such, using a Pokemon with high Speed and access to fast attacks with short cooldowns is ideal, but really any creature will work.
Lucario makes a good companion for this farming route since it has access to fast moves like Bullet Punch and Extreme Speed that can make short work of the crystals. Alternatively, a Pokemon with good ranged attack options works well too, since it can reach the crystals higher up on the walls of buildings without the need to get closer to the crystal before attacking, saving some animation time. Greninja with Water Shuriken, Water Pulse, and Swift works well for this purpose.
To maximize the number of Mega Shards dropped, players will want the highest level Pink Canari Plush, which can be obtained from Racine Construction for a total of 16 Colorful Screws.
