Phantump is one of the Pokemon with the most sinister origins in the series, and in Legends Z-A, this mischievous Ghost/Grass-type species can be found in Lumiose City, if players look hard enough.

With this particular type combination, many players would like to add it to their team, since it can add versatility and coverage to counter Psychic, Water, Ground, Rock, Electric, Normal, and Fighting Pokemon. Learn everything about Phantump, including how to catch it and evolve it into Trevenant, with this guide.

Where to Find Phantump in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Phantump spawns in Wild Zone 13 at night, so players might need to move forward with the Main Mission a little bit before it becomes unlocked. Once they have this Wild Zone available, they need to search around the walls of the building since it spawns there, usually next to an Alpha Trevenant.

How to Evolve Phantump into Trevenant in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Phantump is one of the Pokemon that evolves following special conditions, in this case, it is triggered by Trade. Folllowing the traditional method of obtaining a Trevenant has changed a little bit, since now evolution has to be triggered manually. Follow the next steps in order to evolve Phanthump into Trevenant:

  1. Open the menu (X)
  2. Select Link Trade
  3. Enter code 0182-0182 for a Phantump trade (or trade with a trusted friend).
  4. Once Phantump arrives, it will have its evolution icon will light up.
  5. Select Phantump in the menu and then 'Evolve.'
  6. Phantump will evolve into Trevenant.

Fortunately, for those players who are just aiming to fill up their Pokedex, an Alpha Trevenant is roaming around Wild Area 13 by night, so they can just go ahead and catch it there instead of evolving Phantump.

Trevenant

Trevenant is a decent Pokemon, with a BST of 474, barely scratching the 500 needed to be considered A-Tier, but strong enough to defend itself against most rivals of the same type.

The main advantage of Trevenant is its access to moves like Forest's Curse, which turns the rival Pokemon into the Grass-type, nullifying their STAB bonuses and making them vulnerable to moves from the Fire, Flying, Ice, Bug, and Poison-types.

Since Trevenant is a Physical attacker, teaching it moves like Shadow Claw, Wood Hammer, and Poison Jab will grant it extremely good coverage. Plus, Poison Jab can be combined with Forest's Curse to destroy almost any Rival Pokemon in the range of B to A Tiers, if players play their cards right.

Trevenant also has decent HP (85), Defense (78), and Sp. Defense (82), but could use a reinforcement in any of these aspects using the right EV spread. Use 252 HP/252 Def/6 Sp. Def for a tankier Trevenant, or 252 HP/6Def/252 Sp. Def for a counter against Special Attackers. In case players want a more aggressive build, the recommended EV spread is 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Speed.
