Pokemon Legends: Z-A's new Mega Dimension DLC trailer is out, and the game is about to break one of its longest traditions. The Pokemon series is turning 30 in 2026, and a lot of leaks regarding Gen 10 games have already surfaced last month, including the potential titles being Pokemon Wind and Wave. There is a considerable hype surrounding Gen 10 even though nothing has been officially revealed or confirmed, but in the meantime, fans' eyes are set on Pokemon Legends: Z-A and its upcoming Mega Dimension DLC.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC releases on December 10, something that was just revealed today, and it's bound to include several new Mega Evolutions. Among them are the already known Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, but today's trailer also showcased Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur, essentially confirming the leaks dating to the base game's launch week. Interestingly, though, the leaks didn't mention a key part of the Mega Dimension DLC, which is that the series will, for the first time ever, allow Pokemon to grow past level 100.

Say Hello to a New Level Cap in Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC

One of the core pillars of the series so far has been the fact that Pokemon can get up to level 100. This is also true for Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Pokedex, which includes 230 critters, all of which can only level up to 100. However, the Mega Dimension DLC shows a group of Alpha Corviknight with a bubble reading "Lv. 120," followed by a wild Alpha Annihilape reading "Lv. 142," and lastly, an Alpha Aurorus reading "Lv. 150."

It's unclear at this stage whether this refers to the level at which these wild Pokemon will be found and challenged, like Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Zygarde battle goes up to level 84, or whether this is the critters' actual level. Either way, even if the level 100+ part is just a gimmick to make battles more difficult, it's the first time the series has ever done something similar.

There is a considerable chance that this means that Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Alpha Pokemon will be found at level 100+, and that all Pokemon will thus be able to grow past the original milestone of level 100. Further credence for this is found in a recent tweet by renowned Pokemon leaker Riddler Khu, who took to Twitter minutes before the trailer came out, stating that it would include Mega Chimecho, Mega Baxcalibur, and that level 100+ would be possible.

How Pokemon Legends: Z-A's New DLC Level Cap Could Impact Gen 10

This is a massive tradition to shatter, and now the sky is the ceiling for what else the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A can do. Not only that, but this could also apply to Pokemon Gen 10 games, too, and they could also feature level 100+ Pokemon in the wild. Fans will have to wait and see, but with the Pokemon Gen 10 leaks regarding procedural generation for endless content, it doesn't seem like a stretch that the games will indeed feature level 100+ critters.
