New information is coming out about the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including an interesting change being made to Mega Evolutions. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is taking fans back to the Kalos region's Lumiose City for the first time since Pokemon X and Y. Mega Evolutions were a big part of Pokemon X and Y's DNA, and so it's really no surprise that the popular battle gimmick is making a comeback for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Set to launch on October 16, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a sequel to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, itself one of the highest-rated Pokemon games in years. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will maintain a lot of the design philosophy that made Arceus such a hit, but it will also be shaking things up with its brand-new setting, battle changes, and new take on Mega Evolutions.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Fans Should Circle August 20 On Their Calendar
Pokemon fans might want to mark their calendars for August 20, as new information about the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A is on the way.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Making Change to Mega Evolutions
A Pokemon Legends: Z-A demo has been featured at this year's Pokemon World Championships, and a slew of details about the game have come out as a result. As pointed out by Centro Leaks on Twitter, one such newly revealed detail about Pokemon Legends: Z-A is that Mega Evolutions are triggered by clicking in the right stick. Beyond that, it's possible for players to Mega Evolve multiple times per battle, as opposed to Pokemon X and Y where players can only Mega Evolve once in any given fight.
It will definitely be interesting to see what kind of impact this has on Pokemon battles in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. While such a mechanic could have a negative impact on competitive multiplayer, it's unlikely that Legends: Z-A will have a competitive focus. In fact, it's possible that the game won't have multiplayer at all. While a Pokemon Legends: Z-A multiplayer mode is rumored, one has yet to actually be announced at the time of this writing. And with the game merely two months from release, chances are it's going to be a purely single-player affair.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus made some dramatic changes to what one expects from a main series Pokemon game, and it looks like Legends: Z-A will be doing the same. It's possible that even more information on the game will come to light in the weeks ahead, but otherwise, franchise fans can circle October 16 on their calendars. As a reminder, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a Switch 1 game, but the Nintendo Switch 2 version does have some exclusive enhancements that fans may want to consider.
