The Pokemon Company has revealed Mega Victreebel, one of the 26 new Mega Evolutions that will be featured in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to be released on October 16, 2025, and many details about the game have been unveiled in the last few days.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be set in Lumiose City. Despite the upcoming title introducing quite a few new mechanics, Mega Evolutions will likely be one of the most exciting parts of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. According to recent reports, Mega Evolutions will have some differences in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, such as being triggered by clicking on the right stick and usable multiple times per battle.

The new Z-A Battle Club feature in Pokemon Legends Z-A takes a lot of inspiration from one popular mechanic that was introduced in Gen 7.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Victreebel Trailer
Now, The Pokemon Company has officially unveiled Mega Victreebel with two trailers. The first one was a spooky teaser, which showcased two trainers finding Mega Victreebel in an abandoned house, while the second features some gameplay involving the critter. In this new form, Mega Victreebel looks like an immensely bloated creature, wrapping its vines around the base of its head.
This is just the latest of a few announcements regarding Nintendo’s upcoming Pokemon game. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing back Poison damage outside of battles. This mechanic was prominent in the earlier entries of the series, but it has not been featured since Pokemon Black and White.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A will also feature a new 4-player battle mode called Z-A Battle Club. In this fresh format, gamers will have a total of three minutes to defeat as many of the opponent’s Pokemon as possible, and Mega Evolutions are said to be important to achieve victories. The format will be focused on online games, and it seems like a fresh addition to the Pokemon multiplayer scene.
Lumiose City’s map for Pokemon Legends: Z-A has also been revealed, showing a city divided into different sections. Some are concerned that it may be too small compared to other entries in the franchise, while some believe it's too early to tell. Fans will find out when Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases on October 16.
