Pokemon Legends Z-A may be hinting that another Mega Evolution Pokemon, or possibly even two, could be revealed within the next few days. The return of Mega Evolution as a primary way of temporarily boosting a Pokemon's power has been a big selling point for Pokemon Legends: Z-A so far, and the development team at Game Freak could do well to ramp up the reveals of the roster of monsters that can make use of this mechanic.

Community leaks and official reveals have already shown 26 Mega Evolved Pokemon planned Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which should give players looking to make use of their Mega Bracelets plenty of options. The game was officially announced in February 2024, and while fans were quick to start speculating on which Pokemon might receive new Mega Evolutions, the fan base has become even more excited in recent weeks with the official reveal of some new Mega Evolved forms.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Pokemon Legends: Z-A is doing something different with its Mega Evolution, and that may be for the best.

Pokemon That May Get Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

  • Hawlucha
  • Machamp

Now, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is planning a special YouTube premiere set for release on August 28, at 9 AM EST / 6 AM PST. There's no clear indication of what will be revealed during this premiere event, but a short animation on Instagram promoting it shows a poster with the Fighting-type Pokemon Machamp and Hawlucha squaring off for a battle as a streak of blue electricity crackles between them. The four-armed muscular monster Machamp has been a series mainstay since the first games were introduced in Japan in 1996, while the Gen 6 luchador bird Hawlucha gained a lot of popularity with its Fighting-Flying dual type, which was unique until the releases of Galarian Zapdos and Flamigo in Generations 8 and 9, respectively.

Neither of the Fighting-type Pokemon used in the promotional art has received a Mega Evolution in any previously released Pokemon game, but some fans are now wondering whether one, or even both of them, are about to get that upgrade. The premiere announcement doesn't specifically state that Mega Evolution will be its focus, but recent events hint that it could be the case. Last week, Mega Victreebell was revealed in a pair of trailers, and a Mega Dragonite reveal from late July is still getting some mixed responses regarding its unique design.

There is also the possibility that the premiere event could be showcasing something besides new Mega Evolutions. In the past couple of weeks, Pokemon Legends: Z-A has revealed its 4-player Battle Club mode, the return of poison damage outside of battles, and the full map of Lumiose City, and more surprises are likely in store ahead of the game's Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 launch on October 16.
