Pokemon Legends: Z-A players will not have to wait much longer to get their hands on the Mega Stone for Chesnaught, as it will be obtainable during the third Ranked Battle season. Along with the Chesnaughtite, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will give trainers another chance to get the Greninjite and Delphoxite Mega Stones for participating in a few Ranked Battles during Season 3.

As one of the core features of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the Z-A Battle Club's Ranked Battle system allows up to four trainers to battle in a free-for-all for up to three minutes. While winning a Ranked Battle is a surefire way to climb up from Rank Z to Rank A, Pokemon Legends: Z-A trainers can also earn rewards just by doing simple objectives that include hitting an enemy Pokemon with a super-effective move, or by Mega Evolving their partner. To encourage player participation, Pokemon Legends: Z-A made adjustments in Season 2 that will prevent Ranked Battle contestants from losing rank points if they come in third or fourth place.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC Officially Reveals Mega Zeraora

Pokemon Legends: Z-A's new Mega Dimension DLC trailer gives fans a gameplay showcase of the upcoming Mega Zeraora, coming December 10.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Season 3 Ranked Battle Details (November 2025)

After Pokemon Legends: Z-A addressed a bug with Mega Stone distribution, The Pokemon Company revealed what players can earn during Season 3. Pokemon Legends: Z-A's third Ranked Battle season starts on Thursday, November 27, at 1:00 AM Eastern and ends on Wednesday, December 17, at 8:59 PM Eastern. While the season is live, Pokemon trainers who reach Rank S will earn the Chesnaughtite as a reward. This Mega Stone allows Chesnaught to Mega Evolve in battle, granting it a power boost and a new form. Along with the Chesnaughtite, Pokemon Legends: Z-A trainers who missed out on getting the Greninjite and the Delphoxite will have another chance to claim both. The Greninjite for Mega Greninja will be obtainable at Rank Y, and the Delphoxite for Mega Delphox can be earned at Rank V. Given Season 2's changes to the ranking system, Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can quickly claim the Mega Stones for each Kalos starter.

Additional Season 3 Rewards

Rank A

  • Safari Ball ×3
  • Gold Bottle Cap ×1
  • Bottle Cap ×3
  • Seed of Mastery ×3
  • Big Nugget ×1

  • Bottle Cap ×2
  • Seed of Mastery ×2

Rank F to Rank K

  • Bottle Cap ×1
  • Seed of Mastery ×1
  • Nugget ×2

Rank L to Rank R

  • Seed of Mastery ×1
  • Nugget ×1

Rank S and Below

  • Nugget ×1

However, Season 3 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A's ranked battles will also include a caveat for team builders to consider. To avoid putting newer trainers at a disadvantage, players cannot stack their roster full of the most powerful monsters in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and are limited to just one special Pokemon on their team at most. These special Pokemon are Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, and Diancie.

Additionally, the last days of Season 3 will overlap with the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC, which arrives on Wednesday, December 10. However, Pokemon that are exclusive to the DLC are ineligible for Season 3's Ranked Battles.

LIVE THE LIFE OF A POKÉMON TRAINER IN THE STREETS OF LUMIOSE CITY
Whether you’re a die-hard Pokémon fan or about to toss your first Poké Ball, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game has plenty to offer for Trainers of all types. Experience classic gameplay with modern twists that are sure to revolutionize your Pokémon RPG experience.

CATCH, BATTLE, AND MEGA-EVOLVE—ALL IN REAL TIME!
Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly—there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can both move around in real-time battles, and your Pokémon will unleash their moves when you tell them to. Strategically swapping out your Pokémon and accounting for each move’s timing and area of effect will greatly help you in this new style of battle.

HARNESS THE POWER OF MEGA EVOLUTION
When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.

ROGUE MEGA EVOLUTION
Rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon are threatening Lumiose City. These Pokémon are extra tough to beat, but if you do manage to defeat them, you'll receive valuable Mega Stones as a reward.

RISE THROUGH THE RANKS OF THE Z-A ROYALE
You’re invited to join the Z-A Royale, a competition for Pokémon Trainers to test their skills and determine who’s strongest.

Each night, a battle zone for the competition will appear. Prepare yourself by spending the day in wild zones, catching and training Pokémon, then venture into the battle zone and take on other Trainers.

Be strategic and complete bonus card challenges as you battle to speed up your climb from Rank Z to Rank A. Can you climb the ranks and reach the top?

WELCOME TO LUMIOSE CITY
Visit shops, restaurants, and more, all centered around Prism Tower. An urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.

BATTLE WITH TRAINERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
With a Nintendo Switch Online membership*, you can battle up to three other Trainers at once, locally or online, in frenetic real-time battles!
