Summary

  • According to a reputable leaker, Pokemon Legends: Z-A's starters will be revealed later this year.
  • The current theory points to Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup as the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters.

If a reputable Pokemon leaker is to be believed, fans will know what the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters are by the end of the year. Pokemon Legends: Z-A was announced with a brief trailer that confirmed the game's Lumiose City setting, its 2025 Switch release window, and little else. There are still many unanswered questions about the game, but more information should come to light in the months leading up to its eventual Switch launch.

As a follow-up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the expectation is that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will handle starter Pokemon similarly to its predecessor. This means that it's likely fans can expect three starter Pokemon from past Pokemon games to be recycled in Legends: Z-A, though with the possibility that they will have alternate final forms with different looks and typing. Fans won't know for sure until the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters are revealed to the public, and luckily, that is apparently happening later this year.

Mega Evolution fell by the wayside shortly after its premiere, so Pokemon Legends: Z-A should finally use it in obvious ways it never was.

Reliable Pokemon leaker Riddler_Khu recently took to Twitter to tease upcoming Pokemon projects. They were asked for news on the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters, and responded that they will be revealed "within this year." Riddler_Khu did not provide any hints as to what the game's starter Pokemon will be, but fans already have their theories.

The current theory is that the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters will be Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup. This theory was put together because their evolutions can all be tied to France, which is the country Lumiose City's Kalos region is based on. Not only that, but the Pokemon Legends: Arceus starters were recently paired up with Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup in a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC trailer, which fans have taken as another hint for the Legends: Z-A starter lineup.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Starter Predictions

  • Snivy
  • Torchic
  • Piplup

The good news is that if Riddler_Khu is right about the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters being revealed this year, fans will have their questions answered within the next six months or so. It's possible that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be featured at the Nintendo Direct in June, though that event is said to be primarily focused on Switch games coming in the second half of 2024. It's also possible that another Pokemon Presents will be held at some point this year, which would provide the perfect opportunity to reveal the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters. Whenever the starters are revealed, it will be interesting to see if the theories about them were correct or not.
