On October 5, Pokemon Legends: Z-A released version 1.0.2, which is required for players to participate in online Ranked Battles. The new Pokemon Legends: Z-A update is a bug fix patch that resolves issues related to the game's battle system, as trainers previously could accidentally lock themselves out of completing specific missions.
The new Pokemon Legends: Z-A patch came just hours before the launch of Season 2 of the game's Ranked Battle mode. Following the inaugural season, Pokemon Legends: Z-A confirmed that Ranked Battles would be adjusted to make it easier for players to earn exclusive rewards. The Greninjite Mega Stone from Season 1 will return as a prize for Pokemon Legends: Z-A players who reach Rank Y, and the Delphoxite will be available for trainers who climb up to Rank S, rather than Rank K as previously established. Additionally, Ranked Battles will no longer deduct points between ranks, making the climb from Rank Z to Rank S quicker than before.

Aside from the changes to Ranked Battles, Pokemon Legends: Z-A's latest patch also includes some important fixes for players to keep in mind. Version 1.0.2 addressed some bugs that could prevent Pokemon Legends: Z-A players from completing side missions. Before the update, a bug could occur if a Pokemon attacked just as the day/night cycle swapped over, which would prevent attacks from landing on its intended target. Another bug was addressed that prevented trainers from swapping out their team members if their opponent used Mega Evolution at the same time. An issue that prevented players from completing side missions if they didn't access the box storage system before facing the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle was also fixed, as a bug would stop trainers from catching any Pokemon.
Version 1.0.2 is also mandatory for going online, so Pokemon Legends: Z-A trainers must check to see if the patch has been applied beforehand. Along with the 1.0.2 update, Pokemon Legends: Z-A confirmed that news about the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC would be released on November 6 at approximately 9:00 AM Eastern. Although some details about the Mega Dimension expansion remain elusive, the DLC will allow trainers to obtain Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. The expansion will also focus on the Mythical Pokemon called Hoopa, a creature known for creating wormholes leading to other dimensions.
However, glitches related to Shiny Alpha Pokemon were not explicitly mentioned in Pokemon Legends: Z-A's 1.0.2 update. It remains to be seen what problems will be resolved in future Pokemon Legends: Z-A patches.
