How to Evolve Scyther into Scizor in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Pokemon Legends Z-A has brought back many Gen 1 Pokemon from the dusty Box, but it also has many fan favorites that never stopped shining, like Scyther. This Mantis Pokemon has a lot of fans, and for a very good reason: It evolves into the powerful Scizor, which in time also becomes Mega Scizor through Mega Evolution.

So, players now have double the reasons for adding Scyther into their team, but knowing how to evolve it into Scizor is a must. More so, finding the exact location of the Scizorite can be tricky. This guide will help players figure out everything there is to know about how to obtain Scyther and its evolutions in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Where To Catch Scyther in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Scyther can be found in Wild Zone 13 by Night, so players need to complete some of the main missions in Pokemon Legends Z-A before unlocking this area. Once they do, simply going around the central path will lead to an encounter with Scyther. Just be careful of the Alpha Trevenant that also roams the area, and can be tricky to deal with.

Scyther is a feisty Pokemon, and it won't go down without a fight. Try weakening it and then throwing an Ultra Ball to secure the catch. Once players are ready to get a Scizor, they will need to connect with a friend for Trade Evolution, though there's an alternative if players want to fill the Pokedex quickly.

How to Evolve Scyther in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To evolve Scyther into Scizor, players will first need a Metal Coat, which is obtained later in the game. Once players complete Main Mission Nº 35: Reaching Rank A, players need to find and complete Side Mission 101 - Steadfast as Steel (Bleu Sector 5), or Side Mission 114 - A Feather from Skarmory (Vert Sector 7), which grants a Metal Coat as a reward.

Once they have this item, players can evolve Scyther in Pokemon Legends Z-A using the trade method, but since coordinating with a friend is not always possible, there's a good alternative: Trade codes. Here's what players need to do:

Open the party menu by pressing (X)
Equip Scyther with a Metal Coat (Held Item)
Select Link Trade
Enter code 0176-0176 for a Scyther trade (or trade with a trusted friend).
Once the other Scyther arrives, its evolution icon will be lit up.
Select Scyther in the menu and then 'Evolve.'
Scyther will evolve into Scizor.

Players can also swap back their Scyther this way (which is often done by rule of thumb) and still be able to evolve it into Scizor. Don't forget that Trade Evolution needs to be triggered manually, as this is the new system for all Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Now, to obtain the Scizorite needed to evolve Scizor into Mega Scizor, players can acquire it for 50000 Poke Dollars from the Stone Emporium, located in Vernal Zone's Main Street, next to Wild Zone 12. To trigger mega evolution, players need to make Scizor hold the Scizorite and accumulate enough mega energy, then press (L).
