The Legendary Pokemon, Zygarde, will make appearances throughout the story of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Unfortunately, you will not be able to catch it until you get to the post-game after the credits roll. Plus, you'll have to first catch
Xerneas and
Yveltal in two seperate missions. Below, we'll go over how to catch Zygarde and how its three forms work.
I'm Already Mourning My Pokemon Legends: Z-A Starter Choice
Choosing a starter for Pokemon Legends: Z-A playthroughs can be a difficult choice to make, and unfortunately, I already regret mine.
How to Get Zygarde in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To Keep the World in Balance
Before the quest to hunt
Zygarde kicks off, you'll need to first complete at least one run of the Infinity Z-A Royale, which unlocks after you beat the game. After you defeat Zach in the Reward battle, you will get a call from Lida, asking you to head over to Hotel Z.
After speaking to the group, you will get two new main story missions (The One That Gives and The One That Takes). Follow the objectives for both quests, and you'll eventually get to have an encounter with Xerneas and Yveltal (the pair of Legendaries from Pokemon X and Y).
After both missions are completed, and you've managed to catch the duo, you will need to return to Hotel Z. L will come up to you before you walk into the front door and will ask you for a battle.
L's team consists of the following Pokemon...

Once you defeat him, he'll say Zygarde is waiting for you underneath Prism Tower in Wild Zone 20. Approach the legendary Pokemon and interact with it to start a very tough battle.
Zygarde has three forms, and you'll have to defeat each one before you're able to catch it in a Poke Ball. It's also worth noting that its typing is Dragon/Ground, which makes it weak to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type attacks, so make sure you're prepared before going into the fight. If you black out on the last part of the fight, you will still need to restart the entire battle.
How to Change Zygarde's Form in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Use the Zygarde Cube
After you catch Zygarde, L will hand over the Zygarde Cube. This is an item that lets you change Zygarde's form in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Zygarde has its basic 10% forme, 50% forme, and then its Complete forme. The cube only lets you switch between the first two. To get Zygarde to its Complete form, you need to get its health bar to halfway during a battle (its stats are significantly increased in this form). Also worth noting that it can only Mega Evolve when it's in its Complete forme and its Core Enforcer move changes to Nihil Light.
