Not long after their arrival in Lumiose City, Pokemon Legends: Z-A players will be introduced to Mable, the director of the local Pokemon Research Center. She'll ask them to help her with her research by fulfilling a series of requests, which include filling out the Lumiose Pokedex or catching a certain number of Pokemon of a specific type. There are 49 requests in total, most of which have multiple tiers.

For each tier that Pokemon Legends: Z-A players complete, they'll earn a fixed number of points, and earning enough points will lead to their research level increasing. There are 50 research levels in total, with players getting a reward each time their level goes up. They'll mostly be getting TMs for their troubles, but can also get a Master Ball and a Shiny Charm if they complete all of Mable's requests.
