Mega Evolutions are back in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but not every Mega Stone can be obtained during the main story. If you want Greninjite to get Mega Greninja in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you might have to step out of your comfort zone. While most Mega Evolutions are unlocked via Mega Stones, Greninja is too cool to be so common, so players are going to have to search for a very unique item that can't be purchased like regular Mega Stones, which are obtained at the Stone Emporium on the southern side of Lumiose City. If players want to know what item they need to Mega Evolve Greninja, and where they can find this item, then check out the guide below.
I’m So Relieved That Pokemon Legends: Z-A Makes Getting Mega Greninja Easier Than Expected
Hearing that the Kalos starter Megas would be locked behind Pokemon Legends: Z-A's online battles had me concerned, but those fears are no more.
How to Get Mega Greninja in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
To get Mega Greninja in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you need Greninjite. This is Greninja's Mega Stone that allows it to Mega Evolve during battles. Once you have Greninjite, just give it to Greninja to hold, and you'll be able to Mega Evolve once you've gathered enough energy.
Getting Greninjite is the hard part. You can only obtain Greninjite in Pokemon Legends: Z-A by participating in online ranked battles. Greninjite is rewarded for reaching rank K in the Z-A Battle Club during Season 1. Once the season ends, the reward will swap to a different Mega Stone. You can find ranked battles in the Link Play menu.
Thankfully, it's not too hard to reach rank K, and the four-player battle format makes it easier to climb without any competitive knowledge. You have until November 6, 2025, to get the Greninjite from the Z-A Battle Club Season 1.
This is the only way to get Greninjite in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, since it's not sold at any in-game stores, so act fast! You'll also need to catch a Froakie in order to get a Greninja in the first place, but it's thankfully pretty easy to catch the Kalos starters in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
