Pokemon Legends: Z-A players should consider hopping back into Ranked Battles right now. Game Freak has just launched Ranked Battle Season 4 for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with some great rewards for players who take part. However, there's an exclusive reward especially for the players who go on to reach Rank S in Ranked Battle Season 4 that isn't to be missed.
Ranked Battles are a way for players to test their team and battle skills against other Pokemon Legends: Z-A online. Players earn Ranked Battle points by duking it out with others in four-player Link Battles. The better the performance, the more points players will gain. At the start of each Ranked Battle Season, players begin at Rank Z and must work their way through the ranks to earn tiered rewards. The Pokemon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle rewards vary from season to season, but are usually worth grinding for dedicated players. This gives even veteran players a reason to return to the game.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Has a Problem With AFK Players
Pokemon Legends: Z-A's competitive multiplayer is being plagued by AFK players who are potentially exploiting the ranked battle reward system.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle Season 4 is Live, and Players Should Try to Reach Rank S
Gamers can officially participate in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle Season 4 right now, and it will run until January 7, 2026, at 5:59 PST. Players who reach Rank S in Season 4 will be given Baxcalibrite, a Mega Stone that can be used to Mega Evolve Baxcalibur into Mega Baxcalibur. There is no way to obtain this item through normal gameplay, so players should take the opportunity to earn the reward while it's available. During Season 4, players will also have the chance to earn Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, and Greninjite, which are Mega Stones that were available in previous seasons in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle. Chesnaughtite can be earned at Rank U, Delphoxite at Rank W, and Greninjite at Rank Y. The implication here is that players who miss out on Baxcalibrite in Season 4 may have another opportunity to pick up this Mega Stone in the future.
Players jumping into Ranked Battle Season 4 can use any Pokemon between 001-227 in the Lumiose Pokedex, and between 001-112 in the Hyperspace Pokedex from the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC. Any Pokemon between Level 1 and 100 can be registered, but all are automatically set to Level 50 for the purpose of the battles. Pokemon can hold items for Ranked Battles, although "no duplicate held items are allowed," according to the rules.
It's also worth noting that on top of the special rewards, players can also earn season rewards throughout Ranked Battle Season 4. These are handed out at the end of the season, depending on the rank that players finish at, and are a helpful boost heading into the next season. The season rewards for Season 4 can be found below:

Despite a slightly mixed response among players, Pokemon Legends: Z-A was a big hit for The Pokemon Company. It's a good omen that gamers are clearly still desperate for more Pokemon ahead of Generation 10. However, there's still no news on when exactly Gen 10 is expected to be revealed, with Game Freak and The Pokemon Company remaining typically tight-lipped on the subject.
