Trubbish has long been one of my least-favorite Pokemon, but an adorable detail in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is making me see the critter in a new light. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the latest entry in the long-running Pokemon franchise, giving fans the chance to return to the Kalos region's Lumiose City. All kinds of wild Pokemon can be found in the city, with various Pokemon generations well-represented in the game.

Generation 5 Pokemon Trubbish and its evolved form Garbodor are both in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Trubbish and Garbodor have often been pointed to as some of the worst Pokemon designs in the entire series, and so it's no surprise that the Poison-type Pokemon are not particularly popular. Trubbish may be kind of cute, but it's also literally a garbage bag with eyes.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A's Wild Zone 12 is Virtually Impossible

Catching every Pokemon in a Wild Zone in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a task in itself, but Wild Zone 12 is nearly impossible because of one critter.

I haven't cared for Trubbish ever since it was introduced in Pokemon Black and White, and did not expect my opinion to change in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Anyone that wants to complete their Pokemon Legends: Z-A Pokedex will have to catch a Trubbish, and when they do, they might notice a cute, and also heartbreaking, detail. Whereas most Pokemon try to avoid being caught, Trubbish seems to want to be caught. When you aim a Poke Ball at Trubbish in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it runs up and dances around, seemingly elated that there is someone that actually wants to add it to their team. I don't know if this was intentional on the part of Game Freak, but if so, it's heartbreaking that Trubbish has been neglected so long that it's excited someone wants it. This has made me feel bad for the little creature, but has also made me recognize that even though its design is based on garbage, it's still cute, in a way.

How to Catch Trubbish in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

If you want to catch Trubbish for yourself, it's not hard to find one in Lumiose City. Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can catch Trubbish that they find in alleyways and near garbage cans. It's not particularly difficult to catch a Trubbish, though there are often multiple to deal with at once. Once you catch a Trubbish, you can evolve it to Garbodor at Level 36, which is a much uglier monstrosity that has far fewer redeeming qualities than its pre-evolution.

Pokemon Legends Z-A Trubbish frontal take

Other Pokemon have their own unique reactions when players approach them in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and it will be interesting to see how the returning creatures in the DLC act. While the Pokemon Legends: Z-A returning Pokemon have yet to be confirmed at the time of this writing, it's expected that the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC will add quite a few familiar faces for fans to add to their roster.
