The Pokemon Let's Go games are hosting a brand-new distribution event giving fans a chance to pick up the elusive Meltan, but only in one region of the world. The pair of games featuring a return to the Kanto region served as the first major Pokemon releases on the Nintendo Switch and packed in plenty of departures from past games. The Let's Go games boasted a brand-new catching mechanic similar to Pokemon GO, alongside wild Pokemon roaming the game's world and the removal of Kanto's HMs. Now, the games are receiving a brand-new event in China.

Despite the Pokemon Let's Go games releasing nearly six years ago worldwide, fans in China only recently received the chance to experience the Pokemon GO-inspired adventure. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee finally saw a release in China late last month, following approvals from the Chinese government to sell Pokemon games in the country. As a result, the Chinese versions have already been playing catch-up with the global versions, attempting to give Chinese fans everything they missed. Now, fans in China are getting a new Mythical Pokemon.

As reported by GoNintendo, The Pokemon Company recently announced a special new distribution campaign for the Pokemon Let's Go games in China. For a limited time, fans of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee will be able to acquire Meltan with a special distribution code, exclusive to the Chinese versions. Fans looking to pick up the Meltan will need to have a Nintendo Switch from the China region in order to acquire the Pokemon, with the code set to work until April 30, 2025.

Meltan's addition to the Chinese version of Pokemon Let's Go comes as the Pokemon has been one of the franchise's most elusive. Meltan is still only available through Pokemon GO, requiring fans to complete a series of Special Research missions in order to acquire the Pokemon. Meltan can only be brought into Pokemon's mainline games through transferring it into the Let's Go games, then using Pokemon Home to bring Meltan to the eighth-generation games. Meltan is not currently available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The Pokemon Let's Go games' newfound availability in China comes as the games have been the subject of plenty of rumors. Speculation swirled earlier this year that The Pokemon Company may be developing Johto sequels to the Let's Go games, though nothing has come of those rumors yet. The Pokemon Company has also already announced the next major game in the franchise, confirming Pokemon Legends: Z-A as a follow-up to 2022's Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While no new Let's Go games may be coming, Pokemon looks to have plenty on the way for fans.
