One Pokemon fan recently used their talent for creating light box art to make one featuring the Fire-type Charmander and its evolutions, Charmeleon and Charizard. While it is not surprising to see passionate gamers making fan art based on these pocket monsters since Charmander is one of the original Kanto starters, this light box art is definitely unique.
For those unaware, light boxes use a translucent surface backlit by a light source to show objects placed in front of it in high contrast. While light boxes serve various functions, some talented artists use them to create breathtaking pictures. Recently, one Pokemon fan thought it would be the perfect canvas to make artwork for some of the classic pocket monsters from the series.
As highlighted in a Reddit post, a user by the name of Squiffybodge made a unique piece of Pokemon fan art using a light box. Specifically, this artwork featured Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard. According to the creator, the picture was created using sheets of white paper layered on top of each other. These sheets were then backlit using LED lights, and the finished product was nothing short of stunning.

As far as the design cut out in the layers of paper was concerned, it featured Charmander and Charmeleon in the foreground of what appeared to be a fiery cave. One highlight of the light box picture was Charizard, the final evolution of Charmander, standing further back in the image with its wings spread out. In addition, the art stood out due to the use of LED lighting. The artist utilized what appeared to be red lights to give everything a fiery appearance, perfect to match the Fire-type Pokemon seen in the light box.
Besides this impressive-looking light box featuring the Charmander evolution line, Squiffybodge has created numerous other light boxes. Some of the other popular franchises for which the artist has made light box art include Lord of the Rings, Avatar the Last Airbender, and the Jurassic Park series. Furthermore, they have a link to their Esty page on Reddit for those wanting to check out more.
After completing their latest light box art, the reception on Reddit has been overwhelmingly positive, with numerous gamers upvoting the post. It will be interesting to see what Squiffybodge decides to create next. While they could move on to make light box art featuring another popular franchise, the Pokemon series is filled with other pocket monsters to feature in fan art. In addition to the hundreds of Pokemon already in the series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are adding even more creatures in only a couple of weeks. One thing is for sure; if this Reddit user chooses to make even more artwork based on the Pokemon series, it will be impressive.
