Pokemon Fan Art Imagines Mega Evolutions for Umbreon and…

A group of Pokemon fans have invented and designed two new Mega evolutions, creating Mega Espeon and Mega Umbreon. The two Pokemon fan works each take the Eevee evolutions in different directions aesthetically and with regard to their abilities.

New Pokemon forms and evolutions are a classic way for fans to show their appreciation for the series while also adding their own twists. While there are plenty of Pokemon to choose from, Eevee and its evolutions have ended up with a lot of general fanart, as well as unique takes like this one.

Reddit user LapiSan_Laboratory has shared the two new designs for Umbreon and Espeon, giving them Mega Evolutions that were created by multiple fans putting their creative talents together. Both Pokemon still resemble their original forms, but have gone through some interesting changes, as well. Mega Espeon has been exposed to Espeonite, which allowed it to gain this new form. According to its description, Mega Espeon's psychic abilities have grown, with its forehead gem transforming into an orb that lets the Pokemon predict the weather, as well as the movements and thoughts of enemies with the ability Forewarn. Mega Umbreonite, on the other hand, has gained a large floating crescent moon around its neck and several rings over its body, which can all illuminate at night to blind opponents. Mega Umbreon's ability has been dubbed Moonshine, and it fittingly gains this evolution after being exposed to Umbreonite.

Fans Pick Up Where Official Eeveelutions Have Stagnated

Sadly, the Pokemon series of games has largely turned its back on doing anything new with Eevee in recent generations. The leading theory is that Game Freak has avoided doing anything with the Pokemon following a planned Eeveelution being scrapped due to similarities to a fan's creation. Some fans worry that creative works like those of LapiSan_Laboratory may mean that players will never see a new official Eevee form due to fan works including so many unique concepts and ideas.

At the same time, the lack of attention paid to Eevee has pretty much guaranteed that the fanbase will continue coming up with and sharing new ideas for the Pokemon. Already a favorite Pokemon for many, Eevee even became some players' first starter Pokemon, with it taking the role in Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and several spin-off games. It remains unclear if Eevee or any of its evolutions will ever gain new forms or variants due to this situation, but it's quite apparent that players will keep inventing neat ideas for the Pokemon family.
