Pokemon Legends: Z-A finally has a release date, arriving in October 2025. Ever since the game teased that it would be bringing back Mega Evolutions, creative fans' imaginations have been in a frenzy, thinking up ideas on how existing Pokemon could be altered by Mega Evolving. Now, one such fan has shared their latest creations with the community.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Player Spent 4 Years and 400 Hours in the Game Before Leaving the Tutorial
A dedicated Pokemon Brilliant Diamond player finally begins their journey after spending over four years in the game’s opening section.
On Reddit, user ByeBloom shared their three new Mega concepts for Scrafty, Yanmega, and Malamar. Scrafty, while still skinny, has changed a lot, with the red crest on its head growing out, and the loose yellow skin that was once limited to its shoulders and lower body now having expanded to resemble something like an open jumpsuit. ByeBloom notes that their inspiration came from a combination of street fighters, jail jumpsuits, and for the Shiny form, leaders of Bosozoku, or Japanese biker gangs. Yanmega's Mega Evolution has seen its limbs fold back and its separate wings merge into the center, where they've become much more like the rotor blades on a helicopter. Malamar's Mega Evolution, which is shown both upside down and upright, takes inspiration from Elder Illithids and ink pens, with its legs replaced by tentacles or a pen nub, depending upon which way it's facing. The user also included a Shiny "Flying Spaghetti" version for it, which changes up the coloring and twists the tentacles into something resembling spaghetti on a fork.
Pokemon Fans React to New Mega Evolutions
Users in the comments have shared their thoughts on the three fan Megas, with the vast majority liking the designs quite a bit. The notion of Yanmega turning into an attack helicopter seems to have amused quite a few, while numerous fans have also wished that these designs were from the official titles themselves. A few fans also noted that they would be happy if these were new evolutions in general, not just the temporary Mega Evolution power-ups.
Sadly, as the Pokemon roster continues to expand, it seems inevitable that not every Pokemon will get an overhaul or new form. The creativity of fans ensures that no one Pokemon gets completely neglected, but many players nonetheless wish their favorites got more time to shine in a new title. Others worry that the constant outpouring of fan designs could lead to more scrapped Pokemon, as has apparently happened in at least one prior game. Nonetheless, a large portion of the fanbase is always eager to see what artistically-inclined players come up with next.
