Summary
- Late game Pokemon players can enjoy stomping on low-level NPC trainers for a humorous experience.
- Trainer battles can become easier after beating the game, leading to amusing encounters with weaker opponents.
- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet make it easier to avoid battles but also leave more trainers for post-game fun.
A Pokemon fan has shown how it must feel when an NPC trainer challenges an OP player to a battle after they've already beaten the game. The amusing Pokemon art gives a more realistic demonstration of what it's like when a trainer completely stomps a low-level NPC that they missed on their first run through the area.
Anyone who has played a Pokemon game knows that trainer battles can be challenging on the first time through. In the early areas, a Pokemon player can potentially be forced into fights against trainers that are stronger than them or have Pokemon typings that put the player at a disadvantage. However, going through the same area after having beaten every gym leader and the Pokemon League paints a different picture entirely.
Pokemon fan artist and Reddit user h_n_g_m_n has shared what this experience would be like for a low-level trainer's poor Pidgey. In the image, the Pidgey looks like it's responding with shock as it stares at a giant Nidoking looming over it. The level difference is significant, with the Pidgey sitting at just level 5, having probably barely been caught. Meanwhile, the final evolution of the male Nidoran line is a whopping level 59. As any Pokemon fan knows, the Pidgey is likely doomed to fall after a single hit. The remainder of the NPC trainer's small team is probably no better off, either.
Late Game Pokemon Players Versus Early Area NPC Trainers
In general, it can be hard to get around in the older Pokemon games without being forced into a fight by every trainer in the vicinity. If one spots the player, they have to start a fight, no matter what condition their team is in. As such, it can be fun to go through again later and demolish the trainers that once posed a threat. In many of the Pokemon games, only the trainers that didn't challenge the player can be fought in this manner. In some, though, NPCs can issue a Pokemon battle rematch challenge to the player. While this usually means the NPC has leveled or increased the size of their team somewhat, there can still be a huge disparity in levels by the endgame.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet made it a lot easier to get around without having to face every trainer in the area. However, this also means that there can be more trainers left over to fight after beating the game, resulting in more of these funny encounters. Pokemon NPC trainers don't know when to back down, and sadly for them, cheering on one's underdog Pokemon doesn't typically lead to victory like it did for Ash's team in the Pokemon anime.
