Pokemon Fan Creates Wood Carvings of Gen 1 Evolutionary Line

A talented Pokemon has recently shared three wood carvings depicting Oddish and its evolutions, Gloom and Vileplume. The Pokemon community is filled with talented artists, and the creator of these three wood carvings often shares pictures of their amazing work with other fans.

Introduced in the first generation of Pokemon games, Oddish is a dual-type Grass/Poison critter that resembles a blue plant bulb. When trained up to Level 21, Oddish can evolve into Gloom, which can then be turned into Vileplume if the player exposes it to a Leaf Stone. Starting in Gen 2, however, this evolutionary line gained a new final form, as Gloom could also be turned into a Bellossom if it was exposed to a Sun Stone. All of these Pokemon are generally popular creatures, and can gain access to powerful Grass-type Moves such as Petal Dance, which deals damage over multiple turns.

Now, a Pokemon fan called sebebop has shared three amazing woodcarvings of the Gen 1 evolutionary line for Oddish, including Gloom and Vileplume, but not Bellossom. The three small wood sculptures can be seen from two angles, showing both their front and backs, and each figurine looks adorable and carefully crafted. The post was popular with other fans of the franchise, and the creator gained over 2,600 upvotes, as well as many compliments in the comments.

This is not the first time that sebebop has showcased pictures of their amazing creations with the community. Earlier this year, for example, the fan created impressive woodcarvings of Bulbasaur and Grimer, which also belong to Gen 1. Both models looked incredibly detailed and were designed using a similar method to the most recently shared Oddish evolutionary line.

While this type of work is not as common as drawing Fakemon or new forms for well-known critters, Pokemon woodcarving is fairly popular in the community. A few months ago, one fan shared the entire process of carving a wooden Pikachu figure, surprising the community by showing with multiple pictures how their wood carvings are made.

Another fan recently shared an amazing acrylic painting of Gen 1’s Gengar, showcasing a different skillset than fans who work with wood. The impressive art piece was painted using a canvas measuring 14 inches by 14 inches, and different shades of purple, black, pink, white, black, and yellow paint. Hopefully, other skilled individuals will continue showcasing their work to the Pokemon community and amazing fellow fans with their creativity.
