  • Onix gets a creative D20 makeover, thanks to a creative Pokemon fan.
  • This Onix fan art reimagines the creature made out of blue dice.
  • Other fan-made objects like a life-sized Onix plush and crystal Onix show dedication to the beloved creature.

A creative Pokemon fan has recently given Onix a D20-inspired makeover, reimagining the iconic monster as it would be if made out of dice. Ever since the 90s, the Pokemon community has been in love with fan art, and this trend does not seem to be stopping anytime soon, as there are currently over 1,000 Pokemon to reimagine in different ways, and the number keeps increasing over the years.

Onix is a Rock/Ground-type creature that first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. In the following generation, Onix gained an evolution, the Steel/Ground-type Steelix, which can be obtained by trading the Pokemon while equipped with a Metal Coat. Despite being a powerful critter in the games, Onix is mostly known due to its participation in the Pokemon TV series as one of Brock’s Pokemon. In both the TV series and the games, Brock is the Gym Leader of Pewter City, but in the anime, he quickly joins Ash on his journey, staying with the protagonist for a few seasons.

Now, a Pokemon fan artist called ImPrettyNewHere has shared their latest creation with the community: a D20-inspired Onix. This new design is essentially an Onix made out of blue dice, ranging from 4 to 20 sides. While the creature’s head is still mostly identical to the original design, all of the other parts of its body were replaced, making for a very creative take on the popular critter. ImPrettyNewHere’s fan art was well-received by the community, which gave over 3,400 upvotes to the post.

D20-Inspired Onix Pokemon Fan Art

This is not the first time a fan has devised fan art imagining an alternative form for Onix. Last year, for example, a Pokemon fan created a baby form for Onix, which was depicted as a cute worm-like creature made out of stone called Lithlix.

Due to its unique shape, Onix sometimes inspires fans to create fan-made objects based on him. A few months ago, for example, one Pokemon fan created a life-sized Onix plush that was over 17 feet. The plush looked adorable and had an uncanny resemblance with the original creature, despite being much smaller than Onix is in the games.

Back in 2022, another fan also made a curious object inspired by the Rock/Ground-type creature, a small Onix made with crystal. This fan work was inspired by the Crystal Onix, a unique form of the classic creature that appears in episode 87 of the Pokemon TV show.
