One Pokemon fan created an animatronic Pidgeotto, and the design was so good that it won an award. The community often loves to create homages to their favorite pocket monsters from the Pokemon franchise, and this Pidgeotto animatronic has stood out to many fans.
With nine generations of games, the Pokemon franchise has introduced many creatures over the decades. Among the first batch were Pidgey and its evolutions, Pidgeotto and Pidgeot. These bird-like Pokemon have the Normal and Flying types and became well-known by many fans. As a result, it is unsurprising to see players continue to create impressive tributes to the evolution line.
Pokemon Fan Art Combines Gardevoir and Rosalina
A talented Pokemon fan online shares their fan art that combines Gardevoir with Mario's Rosalina.
One of these tributes came via a Reddit user known on social media as Officer Granite. The Pokemon fan, who loves building animatronics, recently showed off their Pidgeotto creation. According to Officer Granite, they decided to take the animatronic Pokemon to Iron City Comic Con, where it helped the creator win Fan Favorite Cosplay. Impressively, they revealed this was their “first public outing” with the Pidgeotto. However, it is easy to see why they were successful, as the animatronic featured an impressive amount of detail. As seen in the Reddit images, the Pokemon was quite large and could perch on the handler’s arm. The animatronic appeared covered in a layer of feathers that gave a more realistic appearance to the Gen 1 creature.
Pokemon Fan's Award-Winning Animatronic Pidgeotto
In addition, Officer Granite shared a clip of the animatronic in action. Based on the video, their Pidgeotto could move its large wings up and down. Its head could also tilt, with the beak opening and closing. While Pidgeotto was a huge success, Officer Granite has no intentions of slowing down. They noted that they intend to continue making more Pokemon animatronics, as they “love building” them.
It is worth noting that this is not the first animatronic built by Officer Granite. In their Reddit post, they revealed that they created an animatronic Pidgey two years ago. In addition, their Reddit page features many other builds, including a Pikachu, Zubat, Butterfree, and more. According to the creator, the new Pidgeotto marks the 11th Pokemon animatronic they have made. Beyond taking them to events, Officer Granite revealed the animatronics were used for a mock nature show they produce on TikTok.
As evidenced by their award-winning Pidgeotto, many fans love these creations. With over a thousand creatures in the Pokemon franchise, the possibilities for future designs are numerous. While some fans hoped that Officer Granite would finish the evolution line by creating Pidgeot, the creator revealed it would likely be too big to carry. Nevertheless, whatever they decide to build next will likely impress.
