Summary
- Pokemon fan creates posable Hydrapple plush with great attention to detail.
- Hydrapple may be a good candidate for Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
- Fan creations like the plush keep Hydrapple enthusiasts excited for its future in Pokemon.
A Pokemon fan has created a Hydrapple plush that's incredibly clever and charming. The newcomer evolution to Applin was introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Indigo Disk DLC, and offers a creative twist on most Pokemon standard evolutionary lines.
Applin was introduced to the Pokemon franchise back in Gen 8, and has branching evolutions that vary depending on what the Pokemon is exposed to. Applin can evolve into Flapple, Appletun, or Dipplin, with Dipplin evolving into Hydrapple when it levels while knowing the move Dragon Cheer. Fans of this form of the Pokemon will likely be pleased at this artist's attention to detail.
More Evidence Points to Pokemon Legends: Z-A Coming Later in 2025 Than Many Expected
New evidence indicates that The Pokemon Company may be planning to release Pokemon Legends: Z-A later in 2025 than some would expect.
Pokemon fan vortisaur shared their hand-sewn Hydrapple plush with fellow fans on the Pokemon subreddit. The soft plush does a great job of recreating Hydrapple's appearance, with the syrupy apple at the base and the dragon face and neck peeking out of the top. However, the cool detail here is that Hydrapple's neck can be fully posed. While the artist didn't provide any info on how they did this, it was likely accomplished with internal wire. In the images, Hydrapple can be seen with its neck pointing straight up, or peeking down to look at other Pokemon plushes the artist has, including sharing a nose-touch with a Dratini.
Fans of Pokemon have been enthusiastic about the post, sharing their compliments with the artist. It seems the plush is a hit among fans of Hydrapple. An official toy with this feature would likely do well on the market, though there's no indication that vortisaur sells their plushes. It would also be interesting to see this concept expanded upon, with all of the Applin evolution's syrpents emerging from the apple-like base. Considering that the syrpents are notorious for not getting along, though, it might be best that just the one is fully emerged here.
Hydrapple's Future in Pokemon
For now, it remains to be seen if Game Freak returns to Hydrapple in future games. Hydrapple doesn't have a Gigantamax, as it came out in a later generation than the final evolution counterparts that do. That might make Hydrapple a good candidate for a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but the details regarding that game have been extremely limited as of this writing. Since it's such a new Pokemon, some fans may prefer others to get the Mega Evolution treatment, though. Fans of Hydrapple will have to wait and see, but fan creations like these will likely keep them excited about the Pokemon in the meantime.
