As the Pokemon franchise has skyrocketed in popularity over the decades, so has the influx of creative fan projects. While Pokemon has branched out from games into things like TV and merchandise, the community is still hoping for some official collaborations. A gamer completes the Pokedex in Pokemon Ruby after 19 years by obtaining the last pocket monster that they needed to capture.

Recently, a Reddit user known as Janwillem Loonen has showcased what one of these LEGO sets could look like, revealing their custom Rowlett design. Impressively, the builder said the Pokemon was made using pieces from an official set. According to the image, they used a 3-in-1 set that was part of the LEGO Creator series. While the 326 pieces were meant to build either a rabbit, llama, or seal, the Reddit user thought the bricks could be used to create Rowlet. As seen in the shared images, the LEGO creation had the same color palette as the Gen 7 starter Pokemon and featured an incredibly accurate design to the in-game model. For example, Janwillem Loonen managed to replicate the large owl-like eyes of the Pokemon. In addition, wings could be extended from the body.

Pokemon's Custom LEGO Rowlet Design

This staggering LEGO challenge has caught the attention of those on Reddit, gaining hundreds of comments. Many players complimented Janwillem Loonen on the design, acknowledging the hard work and creativity needed to make a completely different design out of the official set. Some users liked the look of Rowlet so much that they considered buying the official set to make the custom design. Fortunately, the builder shared a link to the free instructions for those wanting to give it a try. Furthermore, they revealed that 26% of the pieces would be left over after finishing the Pokemon design, attesting to the efficiency of their build.

It is impressive to see fans come up with their own LEGO creations in the absence of official sets. Besides this Rowlet creation, Janwillem Loonen has created many other LEGO creations, including a custom Eevee design, which they shared on their Instagram. It is worth mentioning that other fans have made impressive custom creations as well, such as a custom LEGO Flygon.

It will be interesting to see what other Pokemon-related LEGO building challenges gamers like Janwillem Loonen try in the coming weeks. With so many different LEGO sets on the market, there is seemingly no shortage of options.
