Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can soon add Shiny Wo-Chien to their collections, as the player base successfully unlocked an incentive after defeating the first Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid boss over three million times. Ergo, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can claim Shiny Wo-Chien via Mystery Gift starting in early August.
Known as the Ruinous Pokemon, Wo-Chien is a member of the Legendary Treasures of Ruin, a quartet of powerful Pokemon sealed away in shrines throughout Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Wo-Chien shares this distinction with Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu. Wo-Chien is usually considered a Grass and Dark dual-type monster with high defenses and moves like Giga Drain, Leaf Storm, and Ruination. While originally Shiny-locked, a Five-Star Tera Raid featuring Shiny Wo-Chien was launched shortly after the July 22 Pokemon Presents broadcast. Shiny Wo-Chien is a Tera-Grass boss set at level 75.
Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Reach Another Major Milestone
The Switch 2 keeps hitting new milestones, with Nintendo now announcing the latest sales achievement for its next-gen system.
After using several powerful Pokemon to defeat the Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raid challenge, Pokemon Scarlet and Viole t trainers will soon be rewarded for their efforts. As reported by ComicBook, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will distribute Shiny Wo-Chien via Mystery Gift starting Thursday, August 7, at 8:00 PM Eastern, after successfully meeting the goal of defeating Shiny Wo-Chien a collective one million times from July 22 to August 3. To put it simply, one million Pokemon trainers around the world could challenge and defeat Shiny Wo-Chien at least once for the criteria to be met. According to Serebii.net, that goal has been met with plenty of time to spare, as Shiny Wo-Chien was reportedly defeated over 3.5 million times as of July 31. As a result, Shiny-Wo Chien and some bonus Tera Shard Sets will be available as Mystery Gifts from August 8 to September 30.

However, the victory over Shiny Wo-Chien comes with an asterisk attached. The Mystery Gift distribution window is the only known method of legitimately obtaining Shiny Wo-Chien in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as of this writing. Additionally, Mystery Gifts require an internet connection to claim, though the process does not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Shiny Wo-Chien will continue to appear in Tera Raid dens until August 3, so trainers can continue challenging the Ruinous Pokemon until then.
Starting August 3, the powerful Ice-type monster, Shiny Chien-Pao, will appear in Five-Star Tera Raid dens. It remains to be seen how quickly Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will complete this next challenge.
