The Porygon2 that will be freely distributed to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers is modeled after the one used by Juyoung Hong, the 2024 Pokemon Trainers Cup Champion.

Known as the Virtual Pokemon, Porygon2 first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Porygon2 evolves from Porygon via trading while holding the Up-Grade item. Two generations later, Porygon2 received a new evolution in Porygon-Z, which also required trading while holding an item. Porygon2 is noted for its blue and pink design and versatile move set, including attacks like Trick Room, Thunder Wave, and Ice Beam. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Porygon2 can infrequently be found in Five-Star and Six-Star Tera Raid dens throughout the Terarium. However, this method requires access to the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

As reported by ComicBook, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will start distributing a Mystery Gift code for Porygon2 during the 2025 Pokemon Trainers Cup in South Korea, scheduled for June 7 and 8. This particular Porygon2 is modeled after one used by the 2024 Pokemon Trainers Cup Champion, Juyoung Hong. This special Porygon2 will hold an Eviolite and come with the moves Trick Room, Ice Beam, Tera Blast, and Recover. Ergo, Hong's Porygon2 can be utilized in competitive battles right out of the box. It is currently unknown what the code for Porygon2 is, so Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers must wait until the finals of the Trainers Cup.

Two weeks later, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players attending the 2025 Pokemon Japan Championships in Yokohama will have a chance to add a special Amoonguss to their collections. However, Amoonguss will likely receive a Mystery Gift distribution at a later date despite the initial exclusivity window.

In the meantime, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers have until July 31 to obtain a Rillaboom via the code "R1LLAB00M2024TW" in the Mystery Gift menu. Only time will tell how long Pokemon trainers will have to participate in the upcoming Porygon2 distribution event.
