Pokemon such as Cetoddle and Eevee can evolve with the help of an Ice Stone. As their name implies, these evolution items are found in cold areas of Paldea and Terarium. In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, a handful of Pokemon evolve with an Ice Stone, so it's best to farm them if you plan on completing the Pokedex. Scarlet & Violet's open-world gameplay gives you free rein, but it'll be easier to track down this evolution stone once you've progressed through the main quests/storylines.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to Get Leaf Stones and Which Pokemon Evolve with Them
The Leaf Stone can be used to evolve a certain popular Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, so players may want to track some down.
Ice Stone Locations
Paldea and Terarium
Ice Stones can be found on Glaseado Mountain, Chilling Waterhead (Teal Mask), and Polar Biome of Terarium (Indigo Disk). There are two in Paldea that are definite locations (ie: Poke Ball items), and one in Kitakami:
- There's one Ice Stone on one of the end fingers of Glaseado's Grasp. You can get here by warping to the Glaseado's Grasp or Glaseado Mountain fast-travel point.
- There's one Ice Stone on the cliffs in Dalizapa Passage. You will need Koraidon/Miraidon's climbing ability to reach it.
- In Kitakami, warp to Oni Mountain and look for the entrance to the Chilling Waterhead cave. This is the same path you take to reach Fezandipiti. There's an Ice Stone by one of the cave entrances (near the waterfall) that leads to the spring with Magikarp.
In the Polar Biome, you will find "golden sparkles" on the ground just as you would anywhere else. These can be items ranging from berries to Poke Balls, but you may chance upon an Ice Stone. There's no way to 100% ensure you'll get an Ice Stone via this method, so you'll want to pick up anything on your path.
You can also obtain Ice Stones from the Item Printer in Blueberry Academy's Club Room. Getting the Item Printer will require 200BP, which you can upgrade three more times to obtain more than one item from the printer.
Which Pokemon Evolve with Ice Stones?
And How to Get Them
Currently, there are six Pokemon that need Ice Stones to evolve. In Scarlet/Violet, there are five Pokemon, due to Galarian Darumaka's absence from the Paldean/Kitakami/Blueberry Pokedex. You will need an Ice Stone for the following:
|
Pokemon |
Evolution |
Location |
|---|---|---|
|
Eevee |
Glaceon |
South Province (Area Two), West Province (Area Three) |
|
Alolan Vulpix |
Alolan Ninetales |
Polar Biome (Scarlet) |
|
Alolan Sandshrew |
Alolan Sandslash |
Polar Biome (Violet) |
|
Crabrawler |
Crabominable |
Glaseado Mountain, Polar Biome, Coastal Biome |
|
Cetoddle |
Cetitan |
West Province (Area Three), Glaseado Mountain |
Certain Pokemon will have their typing changed when an Ice Stone is used on them. For example, Alolan Ninetales is Ice/Fairy-type, giving it access to moves that are super-effective against Dragon-type. However, it gains a 4x weakness to Steel-type moves and 2x weakness to Poison-type.
