Since the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, fans of the franchise have enjoyed the game, despite its flaws. One new feature in the game, replacing the likes of Z-type moves and mega evolution, is the new Terastal Pokemon. Every Pokemon can terastallize using the Tera Orb, but some Pokemon gain a different typing when using this mechanic
Tera Pokemon are found mainly in raids, found throughout Paldea. Very rarely, there are Tera Pokemon found in the wild, in static locations across the map. Some have some incredibly high levels, and they all have Tera types unique from their usual typing. These are the best ones to catch in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
10 Dragonair: South Province Area Six
A wild Dragonair can be found in South Province Area Six in the bottom left corner of the map. This Gen 1 Dragon-type has an interesting Tera Type of Electric. It already knows Thunder, which will get that STAB bonus when Terastallized. This makes it a very useful Pokemon.
Found at level 54, it will take just one more level to evolve into a Dragonite, a pseudo-legendary Pokemon and one of the strongest in the game.
9 Pawmo: North Province Area Three
A New Pikachu clone and already a fan-favorite, Pawmo, is a very good Electric/Fighting-type. Pawmo evolves into Pawmot when it walks 1000 steps outside of its Pokeball.
Players can find a Steel-Tera-type Pawmo in North Province Area Three. It is at level 55 and already knows Metal Claw. Steel is a useful type as it is immune to the effects of poison and all Poison-type moves, which will be useful for the battle against Team Star's Atticus.
8 Revaroom: Glaseado Mountain
As the final Pokemon of each Team Star battle, the Revaroom in each of these matches becomes a Starmobile that has the type associated with each base. Gamers can find their own Revaroom in the game, but sadly, there is no way to turn it into a vehicle.
They can, however, find a Fire-Tera-type Revaroom in Glasaedo Mountain, which is at level 55. Fire-types are excellent in the game, strong against Ice, Grass, Steel, and Bug. Every budding Pokemon trainer needs a solid Fire-type, and Revavroom is a great and unexpected choice.
7 Gyarados: Casseroya Lake
Since Gen 1, fans have been crying out for this dragon-like Pokemon to actually be a Dragon-type. Gyarados is Water/Flying. Back when Pokemon X & Y introduced mega evolution, gamers thought they had a Dragon-type Gyarados in Mega Gyarados, but it was given a Water/Dark typing.
This Tera Gyarados finally has the Dragon type that has been heavily sought after. It is found at level 55 in Casseroya Lake. Grab the Fairy-types and take it on to finally have a Dragon-type Gyarados.
6 Raichu: North Paldean Sea
Located in the North Paldean Sea, this evolved form of the game's mascot Pikachu comes with the Tera-type of Fighting. This Raichu is level 60 and knows Focus Blast. With the STAB bonus to this attack, this Pokemon will hit hard.
Tera Pokemon can also be shiny Pokemon, but finding one will be a massive grind. Having one will be a really rare find, and it will give gamers huge bragging rights. Will this Raichu be a shiny? Locate it in North Paldea and find out.
5 Garchomp:
Since its introduction in Generation 4, Garchomp has been a go-to Dragon-type Pokemon for fans. With Ground as its secondary typing, it absolutely decimates opponents with moves like Earthquake.
However, a peculiar typing was given to this wild Tera Pokemon, perhaps playing on its shark-like design. This Water-type Garchomp can be found in West Province Area Two at a staggering level 65. Knowing the move Liquidation, this Garchomp is not one to be messed with. Make sure to bring a strong Grass-type, as Electric-types will be countered with its Earthquake.
4 Eelektross: North Province Area One
A level 65 Eelektross can be found in North Province Area One. This one comes with Dragon tera-typing, one for any dragon tamers. With its Dragon Claw attack, it will be a formidable member of any team.
If Dragon Claw isn't enough, players can teach it the Tera Blast attack. This move turns into the type of the Pokemon's tera form, offering an 80-power move with STAB. Along with discharge and electric terrain moves, opponents will cower in fear of this Pokemon.
3 Tsareena: Casseroya Lake
Tsareena is normally a pure Grass-type, introduced in Generation 7. It is the only Pokemon capable of knowing Trop Kick. In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, a wild tera Tsareena can be found in Casseroya Lake, at is an impressive level 65.
This Tsareena's tera type is Psychic. With its high attack stat and its Zen Headbutt move, Fighting-types won't stand a chance. It also has Trop Kick, Stomp and Synthesis in its arsenal.
2 Lucario: Dalizapa Passage
Fan-favorite Lucario returns to Scarlet & Violet. Introduced in Generation 4, this Fighting/Steel-type Pokemon has had a place in the hearts of fans since Diamond & Pearl.
Interestingly, this Lucario's Tera type is Ice. Gamers will need to traverse Dalizapa Passage in order to find it. Make sure to bring some high leveled Pokemon as it is level 75. Ice Punch, combined with its 110 attack stat, makes it a great attacker. It will dominate the Elite Four, especially dragon-type trainer Hassel.
1 Dragonite: North Province Area Two
Fans will definitely want to pick up this one. Dragonite is a favorite among older fans of the Pokemon franchise, as it has been around since Gen 1. This Terastal Dragonite can be found in North Province Area Two at a staggering level 75.
Interestingly, this Dragon/Flying type becomes a Steel-type when Terastallized. Knowing Iron Head, this STAB move will be a powerful weapon in the roster of any Pokemon trainer. At level 75, this Dragonite is ready for any test in the game and will require no training, but make sure to bring a solid team to be ready to catch this Terastal Pokemon.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is available now for Nintendo Switch.
