The adorable Fire-type Torchic is known for evolving into the Fire/Fighting-type Blaziken. A popular starter for Gen 3 trainers, Torchic is one Pokemon that you'll want to catch in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Even if you never use Torchic in battle, you'll want to catch and evolve it if you plan on filling out the Blueberry Pokedex in the Indigo Disk DLC.
Just like the other pre-Scarlet/Violet starter Pokemon, you won't be able to find Torchic unless you have the Indigo Disk DLC. Furthermore, you will need to expand its habitat before it starts spawning in Terarium. If you don't have the Scarlet/Violet expansion pass, you can always obtain Torchic via other methods.
Lugia Location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (Indigo Disk DLC)
Lugia is a Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon from the Johto region. Here's how to catch it in The Indigo Disk DLC.
Where to Find Torchic in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Polar Biome in Terarium
The Indigo Disk's Terarium will not be accessible until after you've completed the three main storylines of Scarlet/Violet ("Path of Legends," "Starfall Street," and "Victory Road") and the Teal Mask/Kitakami storyline. Since you will need access to Blueberry Academy's League Club, you will also need to complete "The Way Home."
Before you go searching for Torchic, you will need to expand the Polar Biome in Terarium. To do this, you will need to have access to the League Club in Blueberry Academy. Once you learn how to contribute Blueberry Points (BPs) to other clubs, you can use that same computer to send 3000BP to the Polar Biome. Doing so will cause Torchic to appear in the wild.
However, Torchic only spawns in a cave in the Polar Biome after contributing the 3000BP to the Polar Biome. You can find this cave by climbing the mountains to the far right of the Polar Plaza. It's not easy to spot, but you should be able to see the Polar Plaza's stadium from the cave entrance.
Refer to the orange objective flag on the above image for Torchic's exact location.
There will be a wild Tera Metang inside the cave where Torchic spawns.
Since Torchic spawns in a cave, you can try and use Dusk Balls to catch it if a Quick Ball fails. Dusk Balls have a higher catch modifier if they're used at night or in dark places such as caves or underground.
How to Get Torchic without Inidgo Disk DLC
How to Transfer with Pokemon HOME
If you don't have the expansion pass, then your only other means of getting Torchic is to receive it from a trade, or to transfer it from another one of your Pokemon games. The games that allow you to catch Torchic are:
- Pokemon Sword & Shield (Crown Tundra)
- Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
- Pokemon GO
You will need to have your Nintendo Account linked to Pokemon HOME on Switch to transfer. If you're sending Torchic from GO, then you will need to have your GO account linked to your Nintendo Account, and you will need the Pokemon HOME mobile app.
- When linking your account to your HOME mobile app, make sure it matches your Pokemon HOME ID on the Switch.
- To link a Nintendo Account in Pokemon GO, access the settings in the GO app, then choose Connected Devices and Services. Put in the required information. Once this is done, you can transfer Pokemon using the Connected Devices and Services option, then choose Pokemon HOME.
If you're trading with someone, then you will need a Nintendo Online Membership subscription. If you have this, you can access the Union Circle in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. You can Join or Form a Group by accessing the Union Circle in the Poke Portal, or at the Poke Centers. Once you've set out with your Group, you can trade by going into Link Trade from the Poke Portal.

Moltres is one of the first Legendary Pokemon ever. Find out how to catch it in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Evolve Torchic & Combusken into Blaziken
What Level Does Torchic Evolve?
To evolve Torchic into Combusken, it will need to be level 16. To get Blaziken, you will need to get Combusken to level 36. Torchics caught in the wild of Terarium will be a very high level, so you only need to level up Torchic once to get Combusken, then once more as a Combsuken to get Blaziken.
Upon evolving, Blaziken will want to learn the move Blaze Kick. Any other moves that the Torchic-line may have learned can be accessed via Remember Moves in Blaziken's summary page.
