The Teal Mask is part one of the DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It includes a new region, Pokemon, and an emotional adventure for fans to experience. Among all the newer additions, it also brings several older-generation Pokemon into the mix, including the duo Volbeat and Illumise.

Volbeat and Illumise are related Pokemon from Generation Three. Similar to Nidoking and Nidoqueen, which one player has depends on gender. Despite their many similarities, they are still considered two different Pokemon with unique base stats and movesets. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players must find both Pokemon to complete their Kitakami Pokedex.

Sneaking up on a Pokemon is a great way to catch one. Here's how the process works in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - The Indigo Disk.

How to Get Volbeat in the Teal Mask DLC

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC

Volbeat is a Bug-type Pokemon found in the grassy areas of Kitakami. Volbeat is the male version of the firefly pair. It only appears at night, so players have a limited window to find one and catch it. However, Volbeat is quite common when it starts spawning, so finding one should take little time.

Players can search Kitakami Road, Apple Hills, Mossfell Confluence, and a small area of the Timeless Woods for Volbeat. Additionally, if players breed Volbeat with a Ditto, there's a chance they can hatch one, although the hatchling may be an Illumise. Volbeat's base stats are listed below:

HP: 65

Attack: 73

Defense: 75

Sp. Atk: 47

Sp. Def: 85

Speed: 85

The main difference between Volbeat and Illumise is Volbeat's higher Attack stat. It can also access helpful Ghost-type moves like Confuse Ray and Shadow Ball.

How to Get Illumise in the Teal Mask DLC

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC

Illumise is also a Bug-type Pokemon that only appears at night. It can be found on Kitakami Road, Apple Hills, Mossfell Confluence, and the Timeless Woods, just like Volbeat. Illumise has a much lower spawn rate than Illumise, so players must spend more time looking for one.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC

Players can also breed an Illumise or Volbeat with a Ditto for a chance to hatch the former if all else fails. Illumise's base stats are below:

HP: 65

Attack: 47

Defense: 75

Sp. Atk: 73

Sp. Def: 85

Speed: 85

It shares several moves with its male counterpart but has a different arsenal of support moves, including Play Nice, Sweet Scent, and Charm. It also is partial to Dark-type moves.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC

Volbeat and Illumise can't be evolved from a Pokemon, nor do they have a second evolution. This fact makes their base stats and overall movesets feel slightly weak compared to other Pokemon in the region, but players should still catch them if filling their Pokedex is the primary goal.
