Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will soon have another limited-time event to participate in, as a Mass Outbreak featuring adorable Electric-type critters will be held the first weekend of July. The upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Mass Outbreak will increase the Shiny odds of creatures like Morpeko, Pawmi, and Dedenne.

The featured critters of the early July Mass Outbreak are so-called Pikachu clones, which all share some characteristics with the franchise's mascot. These features include having the Electric-type as a main type, along with dark eyes and cute rodent-like features. Nearly every Pokemon generation has had at least one variant of a Pikachu clone, with two of the more recent entries being Morpeko from Pokemon Sword and Shield and the Pawmi line in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Though the Pawmi line is capable of evolution, most of the other Pikachu clones are not.

Pokemon Fans Need to Keep an Eye on Gamescom This Year

Pokemon confirms that the popular franchise will have a presence at the annual Gamescom expo in Cologne, Germany, later this summer.

Following the conclusion of the Baxcalibur Tera Raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have a different event to prepare for. According to Serebii.net, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will host an Electric-type Mass Outbreak event starting Thursday, July 3, at 8:00 PM Eastern, and ending Sunday, July 6, at 7:59 PM Eastern. This Pokemon Scarlet and Viole t Mass Outbreak event will not have a repeat run, so trainers have just three days to catch as many Electric-type critters as possible. In Paldea, waves of Pawmi and Dedenne will be more frequent. Kitakami will see higher quantities of Morpeko and Pachirisu, while the Terarium will have outbreaks of Plusle and Minun. Trainers must connect to the Internet and refresh Poke Portal News once the event begins. Each of these Mass Outbreak clusters will have increased Shiny odds, so using a Shiny Sandwich with ingredients like Yellow Bell Peppers is recommended before setting out for a Mass Outbreak.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Mass Outbreak Event Details (Early July 2025)

  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will host an Electric-type Mass Outbreak from July 3 to 6.
  • The Electric-type creatures featured in the Mass Outbreak are various Pikachu clones.
  • Trainers will have higher odds of finding a Shiny variant in a Mass Outbreak cluster.
  • Shiny odds can also be increased by playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on a Switch 2.

Along with a Shiny Sandwich power and the Shiny Charm, trainers can use another method to further increase their odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon. Playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on a Switch 2 allows more than 30 Pokemon to appear on the screen simultaneously, meaning the odds of encountering a Shiny variant are increased thanks to the new console's hardware.

The Electric-type Mass Outbreak event is not the only Pokemon event happening in July, as a Pokemon Presents episode will air on July 22 at 9:00 AM Eastern. Only time will tell what surprises await Pokemon trainers throughout the month.
