A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player shares a strategy to defeat Pikachu the Unrivaled quickly with an uncommon Grass Pokemon as the main hitter.

In a new post on the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet subreddit user Mediocre_Metal_7174 circles back to the iconic encounter with Terapagos in the Indigo Disk DLC. Kieran tries to catch Terapagos and succeeds. However, right after that, Terapagos breaks the Master Ball, which is something that is a first for the franchise. Fans are now debating about whether the behavior of the Master Ball should be reworked in response to this moment, but the majority seem to be against the idea.

Terapagos Breaking The Master Ball Might Be Unrelated To Master Ball's Behavior

The reason for that stance is that players think what happened in the Indigo Disk DLC was an anomaly and doesn't really take away the essence of the Master Ball. That is, Kieran did end up successfully catching the Pokemon, which is true to the Master Ball's defining characteristic. The fact that Terapagos was strong enough to break the Master Ball is something that is totally unrelated, and it is crucial to note that this is not the first time that the Poke Ball has been broken.

Fans who have played Pokemon Sword and Shield will have witnessed something similar during the final battle. When Pokemon Sword and Shield's Champion Leon attempts to catch Eternatus, it breaks the Poke Ball as well. However, that was not a Master Ball, so there was not as much of a debate about it back then. Additionally, there was another hilarious incident during the anime, where Whiscash ended up swallowing the Poke Ball. Some fans humorously noted that Whiscash might be at par with Terapagos, considering they defied all odds. Considering that the Master Ball has been a staple of the franchise for a long time, it unlikely that its behavior will change anytime soon, even if Master Balls become easier to collect and strong critters occasionally escape from them.
