Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed the next Seven-Star Tera Raid challenge for trainers to face, as Metagross the Unrivaled will appear in raid dens throughout the Paldea region. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have a limited time to battle and capture one of the most popular monsters from the third mainline generation.

Known as the Iron Leg Pokemon, Metagross first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire as one of two pseudo-legendary creatures from the Hoenn region. Metagross shares this honor with Salamence, who was previously featured as a Seven-Star Tera Raid boss in late April. Metagross is the final form of Beldum and Metang, and it evolves from the latter at level 45. Metagross is a Steel and Psychic-type known for its crystalline blue body and four strong legs that it uses to crush its foes. Metagross can be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by catching a Beldum or a Metang in the Terarium's Polar Biome and then evolving it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Metagross Seven-Star Tera Raid Details (May 2025)

  • Metagross the Unrivaled is the next Seven-Star Tera Raid boss battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
  • The new Seven-Star Tera Raid battle event runs from May 8 to 11, with a second run from May 15 to 18.
  • Metagross will have the Steel-type as its Tera-type, and will grant the Mightiest Mark to victorious trainers.
  • Fire, Fighting, and Ground Pokemon are recommended against Metagross the Unrivaled.

Although Metagross is normally a Steel and Psychic dual-type creature, it will have the Steel type as its only Tera type. Trainers who defeat Metagross the Unrivaled will be granted the Mightiest Mark. Although some Seven-Star Tera Raid Pokemon have exclusively used their Hidden Ability, previous battles against Salamence and Tyranitar have proven otherwise.

Metagross has two potential abilities for Pokemon trainers to bear in mind. Light Metal cuts Metagross' weight in half, and Clear Body prevents its stats from being lowered in any way. Of the two Abilities, Clear Body is the more threatening one. Coupled with moves like Meteor Mash, Psychic Fangs, Earthquake, and Stone Edge, Metagross the Unrivaled will be a tough Steel-type Pokemon for trainers to strategize around. However, Steel Pokemon are weak against Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type attacks.

Once its Ability is removed with moves like Skill Swap or Worry Seed, strong Ground-type Pokemon like Groudon or Quagsire could prove useful. It remains to be seen what strategies Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers will form to conquer Metagross the Unrivaled.
