Some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players developed strategies to solo the Seven-Star Tera Raid battle against Metagross, utilizing Skeledirge as the main focus of their plans. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers then shared their Skeledirge battle plans on social media, along with tips to make the Metagross Tera Raid event easier to manage.

Known as the Iron Leg Pokemon, Metagross first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Metagross is one of two pseudo-legendary creatures from the Hoenn region, alongside the draconic Salamence. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Metagross is the main boss of the latest Seven-Star Tera Raid event. Alongside its signature move, Meteor Mash, Metagross the Unrivaled uses the moves Earthquake, Zen Headbutt, and Thunder Punch to overcome its weakness against Fire Pokemon. Metagross can also bolster itself with Hone Claws, Iron Defense, and Light Screen at set intervals, and it starts the battle with a shield that requires Terastallization to bring down.

While Metagross is one of the strongest Steel Pokemon in the franchise, some trainers shared ways to easily take down the Iron Leg Pokemon in a solo Tera Raid. On the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, Reddit users TyrantrumGOD and SousukeSagara00 shared strategies that utilized Skeledirge, the Fire-type Starter of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Although Metagross' physical defense is one of its strongest stats, its special defense is a weak spot that critters like Skeledirge can use. Skeledirge's signature move, Torch Song, deals Fire-type damage and raises its special attack stat by one stage.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trainers Share Ways To Solo Metagross Tera Raid

In TyrantrumGOD's post, Skeledirge also used Protect, Will-O-Wisp, and Sunny Day as supporting moves. Although Skeledirge would usually take heavy damage from Metagross' Earthquake, TyrantrumGOD's strategy revolved around using Arboliva as a supporting NPC Pokemon. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Arboliva's Seed Sower ability would provide Grassy Terrain to cut Earthquake's damage and provide passive healing. After using Protect and Sunny Day, TyrantumGOD's plan called for using Torch Song to build Tera charges and deal damage.

By comparison, SousukeSagara00 shared a 30-second clip from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet of the moves they used to finish Metagross the Unrivaled. Rather than relying on Will-O-Wisp or an Arboliva as an NPC partner, Skeledirge used its high special attack stat and the fiery move Overheat to land the final hit.

In both strategies, Skeledirge also used the Unaware ability, the Shell Bell item, and maximum effort values (EVs) in HP and defense. After asserting its place as a powerful Fire-type Starter Pokemon, it remains to be seen how Skeledirge will be utilized in future Pokemon games.
