Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can get a shiny Chi-Yu, which will be available for free until September 30. Distribution events are a way for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to obtain rare or unique pocket monsters that are not usually available through regular gameplay. These distributions can happen in many ways, including codes, passwords, and events.
Chi-Yu is part of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Legendary quartet, and its design is that of a fish with two jade beads and a black orb for eyes. Interestingly, despite this appearance, Chi-Yu is a Dark/Fire-type Pokemon, and its body can burn at over 3,000 Cº. Another curious fact related to its design is that this is not its real form: the real Chi-Yu is the jade beads that form its eyes, which came into existence due to the envy of those who coveted them to the point of starting wars over them. Chi-Yu is a monster with an unusual history and appearance. For a limited time, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will be able to obtain a special version of it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have started the free shiny Chi-Yu distribution event, which will be available until Tuesday, September 30, at 4:59 pm PDT. The Legendary Pokemon comes in a Cherish Ball with a Classic Ribbon, no held item, and at level 75. This shiny Chi-Yu has the Beads of Ruin ability, a modest nature, and the Fire Tera type. Its moveset consists of Heat Wave, Dark Pulse, Snarl, and Flamethrower.
To claim the shiny Chi-Yu, Pokemon players must open the game, select Poke Portal from the X menu, and then select Mystery Gift and Get via Internet. After that, they must choose Chi-Yu as the gift they want, and receive the monster in-game. In addition to this distribution, celebrating the completion of over 1 million shiny Chi-Yu raids, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is giving players 100 Fire Tera Shards, 100 Electric Tera Shards, 100 Psychic Tera Shards, and 100 Fighting Tera Shards for the over two million Chi-Yu raids concluded.
While Chi-Yu is the latest distribution, it is not the only critter that trainers can add to their team for free. Until September 30, Pokemon players can claim a shiny Chien-Pao and the Tera Shards related to it. Also, available until September 30 are distributions of shiny Ting-Lu and Wo-Chien and their Tera Shards, celebrating that each Pokemon has reached the same raid milestones as shiny Chi-Yu.
