Pokemon Sleep: How to Unlock Expert Mode

Pokemon Sleep continues to offer updates for the game on a pretty consistent basis, encouraging players to continue tracking their sleep habits and uncover new Pokemon discoveries through the night. Generally, players are able to progress through the game at a standard rate, raising the Drowsy Power of their weekly Snorlax to unlock new helpers and complete their Sleep Style Dex.

A recent reveal detailed some of the upcoming features to be implemented in the next update of Pokemon Sleep. Among them, one key highlight was the new Expert Mode, which offers players a new level of challenge to work their way through. How to Unlock Expert Mode in Pokemon Sleep

In Pokemon Sleep, Expert Mode is a new gameplay format implemented that will significantly raise the difficulty for players. Snorlax will be much harder to raise in general, but this struggle does come at the benefit of being able to gain more rewards than previously ever possible. It is recommended that players prepare for taking on Expert Mode by building up their Sleep Style Dex and befriending many different Pokemon as Helpers. Players can expect Expert Mode to go live on the first maintenance update of early August 2025.

In Expert Mode, one additional Bonus for raising Snorlax will be available each week. Each week, Snorlax will have one primary favorite Berry and two secondary favorites. Helper Pokemon that collect Snorlax’s main favorite Berry will gain certain advantages, such as shorter helping frequency. On the other hand, Pokemon that do not manage to gather any of Snorlax's weekly favorite Berries will receive a longer helping frequency penalty, giving players a double-edged sword approach. Lastly, instead of an area bonus, areas in Expert Mode will accumulate an 'Expert Bonus'.

How to Unlock and Play Expert Mode in Pokemon Sleep

You Snorlax must reach Master 18 in the area you wish to play Expert Mode in. For example, if your Snorlax reaches Master 18 on Greengrass Isle, you can then play Expert Mode in Greengrass Isle. However, initially, Greengrass Isle will be the only area where Expert Mode is implemented, with further updates adding other areas to the mode. For this reason, players should take this opportunity to prioritize their gameplay in this area to prepare for Expert Mode!
Once you meet this requirement, you will be able to select an Expert Mode area from the map.
Additionally, to access Expert Mode, you’ll need an Expert Ticket. These can be obtained by exchanging 200 Sleep Points at the Regular Exchange, or just 100 Sleep Points at the Premium Exchange.
You can hold up to two Expert Tickets at a time in your item bag. Additionally, you’ll receive one free Expert Ticket by completing the Expert Mode tutorial.
