A Pokemon Trading Card Game fan was incredibly lucky and pulled one of the most coveted cards of 2025 twice. The acquisition comes from Black Bolt and White Flare, a new Pokemon TCG release that introduces two sets as a combined expansion celebrating the pocket monsters of Unova.
Black Bolt introduces 172 new cards for players to collect, including 19 Pokemon ex cards such as Genesect, Meloetta, and Kyurem. White Flare, in turn, features 173 new cards and also includes 19 Pokemon ex such as Reshiram, Keldeo, and Hydreigon. In addition to these cards, Black Bolt and White Flare come with six Support cards, three Item cards, one special Energy card, and one Tool card that are unique to each set. However, the most coveted cards are the Black White Rare cards, due to their high rarity and distinctive design. And recently, a Pokemon TCG fan found one of these cards in a surprising situation.
Pokemon TCG Player Scores Incredible Pull from Dollar Tree Pack
A Pokemon Trading Card Game player opens a booster pack and has a big surprise when they pull one of the most coveted cards of the year.
On the Pokemon TCG subreddit, user md_christ shared an unexpected pull from the new expansion: two Black White Rare Victini cards. They explain that they opened an Elite Trainer Box of Black Bolt and White Flare and pulled a Victini from each of the boxes. In addition to this impressive double pull, they got other amazing cards: Thundurus, Tornadus, and Serperior ex full art, and the special rare variant of the card featuring Hilda, the female protagonist of the Gen 5 Pokemon games.
What Makes the Black White Rare Victini Card So Special?
Victini Black White Rare is one of the most coveted cards in Black Bolt and White Flare. The illustration shows the pocket monster on a monochromatic red background, making a victory sign. If pulled from Black Bolt, the card will have the number 171, and according to PokeDATA, it can cost $589.96. One collector went even further and purchased a raw copy for $975. If fans pull the Mythical Pokemon card from White Flare, it will have the number 172, and PokeDATA reports that it can cost $557. The site also lists purchases for impressive prices, such as two raw copies that sold for $1,299.99 each.
While getting this Victini is something that requires luck, it's not the only rare card that Pokemon TCG fans can pull from the new expansion. Black Bolt packs have a chance to contain a Zekrom ex Black White Rare, featuring a monochrome black background illustration. White Flare packs, on the other hand, may come with a Reshiram ex of the same rarity, this one on a monochrome white background.
