Best Ho-Oh ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Explained

ho oh ex 2

In Pokemon TCG Pocket, one of the best deck compositions for Ho-Oh ex involves a pairing alongside Dragonite ex. While this setup takes a few turns to get going, the late-game damage potential can be absolutely devastating. This is because while Ho-Oh is in the active spot, the Phoenix Turbo move will enable you to attach 3 energy from the Energy Zone to any of your Benched Basic Pokemon. As ex cards are considered basic Pokemon, Dragonite ex is the perfect choice here.

Dragonite ex needs three Energy to use the Giga Impact move, which deals a huge 180 damage in a single turn, at the cost of having to skip attacking the following turn. This results in 180 damage hits every other turn, which is more than enough to 1-hit KO even a solid range of ex cards. Magby has been included as an early-game option in case Ho-Oh ex isn't in your first hand, as it can also help set up other cards by attaching Fire Energy from the Energy Zone to benched Pokemon.

Rare Candy helps you skip the Dragonair evolution in the case that things are taking too long, and instead head straight into Dragonite ex. Red Card and Sabrina offer disruption of the enemy to help you stall for time to get set up. Leaf helps assist with the switch between Ho-Oh and Dragonite ex, and Irida provides extra survivability for these two Pokemon to help them remain in the Active Spot for as long as possible.
